Anything special happening at the gate or are you all in the PC?

They've got a stage setup with cake and stuff. It also looks like they are going to do a water salute.

That's it. I'm moving to Alert.

I live inside where it is 72 degrees max, continually.

I know, I feel like a total

I posted in this post the correct flights, but I did not even notice I first mentioned Feb.

No, the snowfall that this area gets is . When your weather choices in January and February consist of your choice of:

1) Lake effect snow, sometimes falling 6"/hour
2) Daytime highs of -5F, lows of -35F, windchills of -90F

and your apartment doesn't have covered parking, that's .

except the 3rd part about your car, it sounds great. I don't see why people hate snow, in the Winter I go north, when those that live there are leaving. Very nice and peaceful.

Of course I walk around in short sleeves at -5 as well.

I miss when I used to work at our R&D facility, which had a +40F walkin cooler and a -20F freezer. Great thing on a hot day.

Did anyone in the Box get their free money for "test driving" a Dodge?

The snow wasn't really that bad, except for the days when we got several feet at once. When it was above 0, I took up snowshoeing as a leisure activity. Lewis County has more miles of snowmobile trails than roads. It also has more cows than people.

I would gladly take winters with -5F over this. I spent three years living in Scotland, which was excellent, and loved every minute of the week I spent in Quebec this winter (temp never got above 5F during the last 5 days of the trip).

Personally, I would prefer that over regular 90+ degree days from late March through late November, with virtually guaranteed unbroken 90+ from June-September

Perhaps because driving in it sucks?

Perhaps because walking from your car to the store in it sucks?

Perhaps because dressing warmly enough to handle the cold sucks?

Perhaps because the snow, when it doesn't melt away, turns from a nice white to a dingy gray to a disgusting black (which then stains your clothes) over time, all of which sucks?

I found a new revenue stream...possibly. Always a nice way to end your day.

Parallel parking when a 6" thick rind of ice covers the sides of the roadway is

I got the one to NJ but not the one to CA. My mailman in CA cut off my mail. :(

belynch Jun 25, 2009 2:09 pm

NY is suddenly looking a little less

Regarding "visiting" winter. It's fine, it's great, because it's finite. You know when you are leaving. Spend 4 winters in Syracuse and then we can talk. If you're still alive.

I had three lovely ones in EDI. Sun sets at 3pm in December, and doesn't return until 9am (but always remains low in the Southern sky, so is easily blocked by buildings or the Pentlands). Fresh gales can blow sleet pellets at you from October-April, and I once enjoyed a Balmy 48 degree July day there.
