Same weekend as jrzyshawn and me. I'm on EWR-SFO-LAX-HNL-KOA-ORD-EWR that weekend. We should do dinner Friday and/or Saturday nights.

Cool. I'm game.

Actually the best part about that picture is fozz -- his expression accurately captures the  each of us live with on a daily basis in the box.

Thank you, thank you very much.

SPG just delivered a  in my inbox.

They are denying me stay credit when I was walked from one Westin to another due to maintenance problems at the first Westin (no water / operational keycards). Am I wrong that I should get credit for two stays (and therefore a free night?).

Discuss.

Weather Underground is showing that it is currently 101.3, with a 43% humidity, for a heat index of 113.

I don't think I've ever said this in my life, but there's a decent thread on the US forum. It's all hypothesis on what exactly is going on with Republic (and how it impacts US).

I have to say, I think BoeingBoy is one of the most valuable contributors to FT. ^

That's the next place I'm gonna visit, and I totally agree about BoeingBoy. Some of his stuff is slightly conjecture-ish since he retired and he's not as plugged in to what's going on, but even his opinion posting is great to read.

I'm pretty sure that surgical titanium would not set the sensor off, but surgical steel - like any other steel item - does. All depends on the type of implant, some are pure titanium or steel, others are blends which would be hit or miss. Also depends on the screening mechanism - I wear the same belt every week, some it sets the sensors off, other times it doesn't. It's a TSA cr*p shoot. :)

I thought you'd know, thanks.

I picked up my copy of Inane Metal Detector News this morning and remembered that when the other half and I went to NASA, the security guard was miffed that the metal detector did not ding at my camera. He did ask that I turn it on and off for him.

That much is true, on both counts.

Third count added to above. I'd still consider going in there to polish my argument and rhetoric skills.

So wait, are they doing it at HOU then?! If so, there's no way to see it since they'll probably park it at the maintenance hangars.

Can't remember already if you saw the answer in the other thread.

In other news, I'm still trying to recover from last night's trip to the Love Shack here in Fort Worth.

I have some surgical titanium, and it does not set off metal detectors.

SPU, BUD, or BCN as my couple days' self-vacation?

BCN is perhaps best saved for the spring, at least. BUD would be a nice winter city to visit. What the hell is SPU?

Split, Croatia

Croatia is supposed to be awesome. I think a lot of the touristy stuff on the Dalmatian coast is closed in the winter, though, but that may have changed. I know people with homes in Croatia who travel there during all seasons and prefer the less touristed times of the year. They have mountains there, as well, if you are up for some snow. You also could take a side trip to Sarajevo to make it interesting.
