Got to love being LA when stuff like this goes down.

Why by helicopter? the taxpayers will be on the hook for that one....probably.

Got to love how some guys in the lounge here at the hotel are .....ing about US (one is Platinum, one is Gold, one is non-elite) and talking like the way US operates is normal, and the same way all airlines operate. Guess I won't inform them of how things operate at other airlines. Carriers like CO have enough elites already.

And as far as drunken Box posts goes, yours was quite coherent. You need to drink more for your next one. We wouldn't have known it was a drunk post had you not told us.

I did have a water and come home, and I also had dinner. Now that I'm consuming nothing but alcohol, my posting should slowly degrade. :D

Rant:

Dear ConciergeMike,

Due to a technical issue, 2,500 bonus points were inadvertently added to your account. This error is in the process of being corrected. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. If you should have any questions please call HHonors Customer Service at 1-800-446-6677. You may review your account summary by clicking here.

Do I have a shot at complaining about this? If they put points into peoples' accounts, they should stay there.

Rant over...

You could at least be somewhat charitable and steer them towards WN Rapid Rewards.

This is LA. If they took him by ambulance you know it would be a huge mob scene and traffic jam. The UCLA Medical Center is ridiculously crowded right now, with people filling the streets outside. The helicopter may cost more, but you know it's probably far less chaotic than transporting the body by road right now. It's also still rush hour here, so why make a horrible traffic situation even worse?

Is the helicopter pilot wearing only one glove? (Too soon?)

ConciergeMike Jun 25, 2009 7:52 pm

They're flying the body by helicopter because the mob scene surrounding an ambulance is not defensible...people would break into the back of the ambulance and steal pieces of plastic.

No need to. Mr. non-US elite is talking about flying WN, which he apparently does pretty often. He's also describing how he manages to contort his 400 pound body into the seat in such a way that they don't charge him for a second seat, and how he won't check in at one of their counters because they insist on charging him. Another reason not to get involved in this conversation.

I just booked a ticket to visit my mother in Houston. After  about having to go "all the way" to Bush to pick me up, she made her final pitch for WN: you don't have to pay bag fees.

Guess their ad campaign is working.

But then you get people like sbm12 who seem to write better when they are drunk.

Probably not. And for 2,500 points, it's really probably not worth the effort.

There are always some good mileage promotions around for cars.
