Interesting, never thought of it that way. The way I see it is ingrained in many minds that as long as you are going the speed limit you're fine in the "fast lane", instead of observing it as a passing lane.

Honestly, I was not expecting much from the hotel but I was pleasantly surprised with the place. The room was very clean and simple in the way of furnishings, but they did have dishes, cutlery, glasses and a microwave available in the room, which was nice. We paid $125 a night. It was a little more than I was looking to spend, but overall I am very satisfied with them and would definitely stay there again if I find myself going to BZE on another mistake fare.

After vacation in PTY last year, I would love to find a mistake fare to BZE.

You didn't like PTY? We were there last week and had a GREAT time!

I loved PTY - in fact, I recall making hotel recommendations. I want to get back to the region (and a mistake fare is a more than sufficient excuse).

As for the food/drink options, Fido's and The Tackle Box are ok for bars. ...Hartmann recommended Wild Mango's but I didn’t get a chance to check it out because I did not see his post.

Fido's was OK (first day lunch). Did Wild Mangoes tonight (operated by the partner of the guy we're diving with) and was quite impressed.

When we were there the whole place was dead. How are the crowds there now?

Hope this helps and enjoy your week!

Decent crowds. Not overwhelming but there are definitely people out and about.

Unless you went up to Bocos del Toros (or something like that) from PTY the experience between PTY and Ambergris (the place to go if you get a good deal to BZE) is wildly different. Huge.

Elvi's is definitely open. It is on one of the cross streets and looks like a house from the outside if you are not paying attention. I think it's three blocks over from the airport.

Elvi's is definitely open; had dinner there last night. It was OK but not great. One blokc in (Pescadoro, I think) from the north end of city park.

That seemed to be a fairly cute eel.

We had Elvi's to ourselves when we were there and got to sample a lot of the food. The stewed chicken with rice and beans = ^^

All this talk of Wild Mangos makes me want to go back for more:

I said it was cute - I didn't say I was going to be taking close-up photos.

Little bit of both. Love Castle, and it suffered without having the strong lead-in audience. I'll watch Dancing With the Stars only for relative participant hotness. Julianne Hough and Kym Johnson on the pro side, and this season Melissa Rycroft. hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot.

Oh great - ALPA is back on FT...

Mackieman May 23, 2009 9:51 pm

CBS canceled The Unit, which was mostly merciful, so my TV watching has gone from  to :rolleyes:rolleyes:. I suppose that is technically more time to peruse FT. :)

No replies yet but I doubt that thread will still exist when I get out of bed.
