SFO/LAX-IAD/ORD/DEN/BOS/EWR are some of the hardest upgrades in the system.

IAD/ORD/DEN because they are all hub-to-hub. BOS because there is enough people paying F and EWR because they keep downsizing it and it's currently 319s mostly.

Even as a 1K those are hard.

I scored ORD-IAD a couple of weeks ago on a 3-class 763. A Sunday late-morning flight - C went out with empty seats. A 1P walked up and bagged 4 seats just for the heck of it for his family. I got my first ride in the new C seats after months of unsuccessful attempts to upgrade ORD-SFO.

I get the new C again in a few weeks for a nice long trip - ORD-GRU on the company dime. ^

I don't mind E+ at all, especially on the 767 and 777 with the two-seat groupings near the windows. My IAD-LAX flight Monday was quite pleasant, and far more comfortable than CO or DL in Y, which would have been my other most likely options (provided I didn't get the upgrade on CO).
