On AA from MIA-EWR yesterday, we flew through some of the worst lightning I have ever seen over the CLT area. We were getting tossed around for a good half hour, but it was a really cool sight outside the right side of the aircraft.
Anyhow ....Mornin' Box! :) |

Missed a whole day without FT. I was at the Johnson Space Center for coverage of the shuttle launch. It was interesting going into places even the tours don't take you.^ Met an astronaut who worked on the Hubble 7 years ago (and the last successful Columbia mission). Now, I WANT a job there. Anyone have any connections?;)

Gate staff in DTW are working my probable-oversold flight and wouldn't take me as a volunteer, despite me presenting the alternative itineraries and having no checked luggage.

Lightning story: my mother and one of her outside sales people were flying home from somewhere on the West Coast. Pilot comes on and warns of lightning, and is kind enough to say that there's another line of storms further out that one side of the plane can watch. Outside sales woman, name deleted to protect the stupid, looks at my mother: "Nancy, why is the lightning only on one side of the plane?" Caller: My wife got a job as a traveling nurse - she'll have to travel and her employer will pay for her housing wherever she gets temporarily assigned. We're trying to sell a house in STL and want to move to Florida. (blah blah blah) Ramsey: So, why do you want to be paying for two houses when your wife's going to get housing paid for in a third location? Caller: Sorry? (clearly confused) (continues for a few minutes) * I was in Tullahoma - that was the only station that would come in. |

Evening, Box!
OK, I need to rant. Nothing about CO or flying or anything so exciting. Simply- my life is one big ball of stess at the moment: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGG GGGHHHHHH I am having all sorts of problems with my business partner and all I want to do is SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMM. There - that felt better. Well, not really, but what's a girl to do! Sometimes I wonder about the human race and how people can be so horribly difficult to work with/be around. OK - rant over. I'm off to the Bristol on Friday for my tea bag and chocolate run - yeah! Olton I will bring you some Maynards Wine Gums! In the meantime, I am going to be knee deep in pscyh assessments for the next three days - meh! But, after that, at least I get to go to Bristol for a few days and get away from my business partner. |

Heard someone on the Dave Ramsey Show who made Ramsey seem absolutely brilliant.* Caller: My wife got a job as a traveling nurse - she'll have to travel and her employer will pay for her housing wherever she gets temporarily assigned. I'm continue to be amazed by the level of statistics that the DoT/BTS manage to publish for the air travel industry. I just spent a half hour digging through the stats on revenue for checked baggage fees. Real money there for most of the majors. There is no way those fees disappear; it is serious money being made across the industry ($1.1BN last year).

If anyone who participates in the 'Box had to pay any baggage fees last year, they are not worthy.:p
Actually, I did pay $15 in baggage fees last year on AA. It was that or ship the box, which would have cost even more. I wasn't particularly happy about it - especially since it was the TSA war on liquid that required the checking. But I wasn't about to show up for Thanksgiving weekend at my in-laws' and not have decent wine to drink. I only had one other checked baggage experience (coming home from IST/BRS with a new kilim expanding my bag a bit) and that was free thanks to ST E+ status. |
The Box is completely dead this morning.
