Crete itself was excellent.

Flew into HER (that's what she said) on our way to the Blue Palace. After Santorini, nothing else can compare (also didn't think Blue Palace was anything great).

Landing in HER was rather startling. I had no idea.

In other news, read the reviews. Sometimes I love people.

belynch, in celebration of recent events, are you going to name your airline Air Canada?

We stayed at some cheap apartments not far from the Blue Palace (in Aghios Nikolaos proper). It worked out to something like $30/night on our package deal. We absolutely loved it. Had a view of the Med from our balcony, and there were tons of very good Tavernas within walking distance. The center of Aghios Nikolaos was less than 5 mins away by car. We rented a tiny Fiat Punto, and drove from one end of Crete to the other, using Aghios Nikolaos as a base.

I can see how Elounda and the Blue Palace would get old. Not much going on around there. I actually prefer Rhodes to Crete, but have very fond memories of Crete.

Yeah. And the prices on everything were .

We had just done EasyCruise for a week (a really spectacular option in Greece. No joke.) and were tired of not being in the same place for more than 20 hours. The idea behind ending the vacation at the Blue Palace was to simply relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

While our room was spectacular (complete with private* plunge pool) the resort itself is more photogenic than functional. I'm not complaining at all, it was still an amazing vacation and a good use of *wood points.

Driving between HER and Elounda perhaps gave me the wrong impression of Crete.

*to our neighbors at the Blue Palace, I either owe you an apology for the lack of privacy or, uhm, you're welcome.

Air Rolleyes is proud to offer services in our nation's capital, including the strikingly profitable and astoundingly environmentally unsound routes of IAD - DCA and IAD - BWI.

And if the service is complained about, passengers will eat a bullet.
