It's called collusion - each alliance member competes with non-alliance member on a set number of routes.

Once you're inactive for a while, I think it removes you.

For those who want to hub in Europe, please look elsewhere other than LHR and FRA. CDG, AMS, MAD, MUC, etc are all still available.

I think the two continents to avoid are S. America and Australiasia, since neither have a lot of huge airports.

All of my MNL flights are continuations of ATL-Asia flights. I needed a place that was convenient to burn off remaining hours on those aircraft. Full disclosure: ATL-PEK-MNL is in the future.
