So sbm12 is on his way to the Casco Viejo. If no one sees a post out of him from the PTY PC before his flight, it might be time to schedule a memorial service. I hope he got an armored taxi. :D

We drove our pos rental and survived. No shake downs and only a few wrong turns. Most entertaining was one of the bums from calle central who remembered us two days later.

In addition the entire quick conversation about their authority to do such would be recorded. I understand customs checks and the like at borders, but this is too much. If we don't stand up for our rights we lose them.

Well good luck with that. The courts have already ruled and you'd be on the losing end, at least until you can get it overturned.

So unless someone is immediately able to contribute a positive cash flow to society they should be excluded? Horribly xenophobic, if you ask me.

And now we're in the PC at PTY, a bit of CO/CM bizzaro world. Everything looks almost the same, but there are just enough differences for it to be unnerving.

Anyone going to be around IAH at 5:30pm today? A QR 777 is supposed to land. There will be lots of media there for the event. A couple of my co-workers will be on the tarmac reporting on the event. I wish I could go. That's a fun and easy assignment.

It's over Quebec right now and appears to be doing S-turns to slow itself down so that it doesn't show up an hour early.

I thought of heading to the airport to see it. We'll see.

That sure is the case with everything that has to do with Copa.

I can't do that last one, but I can say "I don't know," "I can't speak Russian," "How are you?," and in answer to that question, "I'm OK."

Did you make it there along the coastline, or by following the main artery of the big road that does a U into the Casco Viejo? Make it to the Cathedral at all? If so, I'd definitely like to see the pics. When I came in along that coastal route, I came to a dead-end by some sort of Diplomatic buildings, then made a turn onto a one-way that took me away from the Cathedral. At that point, traffic was so crazy and I was so semi-lost that I just followed the flow until I was back on the main roads, and didn't bother heading back into the Casco Viejo (it was getting dark).

IIRC, that main road that does a U into the old town had quite a few paramilitary-style police hanging out on the street-corners. If it weren't getting dark, and had I been able to find a place to park, it might have been worth sprinting to the Cathedral. :D

Gdye Pochta. This has been your semi-useless Russian lesson for the day. That will conclude that series, as I don't have anything else to offer. :D

I resemble that remark.

That's why I used "Copa" when commenting on sbm12's post. Somehow CM has become Box shorthand for Concierge Mike.

1. I do tend to hang out here a little. :D
2. For every 327 CO threads, there might be one Copa thread. I would venture to guess that my presence in The Box has led to a shift in brand awareness for "CM".
