Yeah, I've seen that before. Odd.

In this case, DL/NW wants $280 while CO wants over $500.

Yeah...I can't think of too many more compelling reasons than love that would justify a visit to Iowa.

I live in TN and even I fly over IA.

What will the weather be like in EWR on that day?...

The crystal ball says that will be the day of the first big storm of that winter. About 12-15 inches of snow with high winds gusting to 40 knots.

And 5 knots can create a problem.

Considering my wife took the picture, she was the target of the bird.:p

With my line of work, I'm particularly attuned to spotting that type of behavior. :p

I'm 60 miles from BNA (closest airport with commercial service), so I do understand.

I am 75 miles from OKC. The saving grace is I am also 75 miles from TUL. OKC has $5 a day parking vs $10 at TUL. So I try to go outta OKC as it is cheaper to park and newwer airport. TUL has been cheaper lately though.

On a humorous note, I was working the check in counter in Honolulu one morning, circa 1988. I had a nice man come up to me and ask if he could stand by for the morning flight to LAX. He was booked on the afternoon flight. I said sure but that I would have to check his box on to his original flight and he would have to return to the airport to pick up it. Because he was voluntarily separating from his box I was required to get his signature on the bag tag, noting that he was separting himself from his box. I also was required to ask him the contents of his box since CO is not responsible for damage to boxed items. Contents: his artifical leg.
We both got a good laugh out of this.

One of the things we did when I was growing up was camping. And more often than not, we went camping with the Jones’. My dad worked with Mr Jones and the Jones’ had a daughter my sister’s age and a son my brother’s age. We hiked, fished, rode dirt bikes and roasted many a marshmallow. Good times were had by all.

The Jones’ also had a dog; a shepherd and malamute mix name Duke. Duke was a great dog - loyal, friendly, eager to please and gentle around all of us kids. No matter how much we rough-housed with him, I never heard growl at anybody in anger, let alone bark with any kind of heat.

Once upon a time at twilight, an unfamiliar camper drove into our camp. The driver got out of the cab of the truck and began talking to Mr Jones, Les, about the camping nearby. The two men stood together in the gathering dusk, discussing the finer points of this campground versus that one.

All of a sudden, Duke came running toward the men, barking, snipping and snarling. Les turned towards Duke and saw, to his utter shock and horror, Duke launch himself at the stranger and lock his jaw around the man’s lower calf.

Les could not believe what was happening and could not believe that Duke would not let go when he commanded Duke to do so. Les finally had to kick Duke a couple of times to release the man’s leg. When Duke did let go, he continued to snarl at the man, who remained strangely calm.

Les was beside himself with apologies. He said Duke had never done anything like this before, he was so sorry, did he need anything to dress the wound, etc.

The stranger looked at Les, pulled up his pant leg and said, “That’s OK, it’s my wooden leg.” He turned to the rest of us and displayed his artificial limb. We all about fell over laughing.

For the rest of that trip and for as long as we knew the Jones’, the words “That’s OK, it’s my wooden leg” was our favorite phrase for almost any occasion.
