I am much happier as a human being as of about 2 hours ago - the Devils broke the losing streak and I got a followup on an application...it was an e-followup, but it beats nothing.

Did you happen to check out the golf course I referred earlier today?

Or converted to a Sears Essentials or such.

Sears Essentials would make sense for one of the old KMarts around here - the other two I'm thinking of are both within 5 miles of pretty good-sized malls.

Oh, before I forget: I found out tonight that I dislike pretzel cones. I like chocolate-covered pretzels, so I thought that I would like chocolate ice cream in a pretzel cone. The cone was saltier than a rimmed margarita - blech.

I had a decent work assignment today. Traveled to Brenham, and pretty much took in the sights of the bluebonnets. Very, very pretty.

Unfortunately, you cannot tell how pretty it is out there, since the online video is so compressed. :td: On TV it looks better.

The mall in my town had a Circuit City and a Linens-n-Things half a year ago (and a KB Toys). Enough said.

I'm pretty ambivalent about the former but glad to hear about the latter.

You mean the one with the monster opening hole? (565 from the tips on the FIRST hole?) Yikes. And 9 isn't much shorter & that moves right into another short one at 10.

It looks really nice.

No golf for me this weekend. I am IAH-ONT-IAH on Saturday but on Sunday we're going out to the Houston Open. Baglady scored an awesome ticket package.

I used to take my friends to Meadows Farms as an experience - the 841 yard hole was where I (comparatively) made up a ton of strokes.

Nobody I have played with or sent there has complained about the length on 1, but 9 gets tons of  from people because it's so uphill and into the wind, in cas you needed more of an insult to close out the front. 10 is fun as can be because it's way downhill and very generously wide. 16 is worth the greens fees alone. There's that course, and there's this about half an hour south, along with where last year's Box Golf Mini-Do was held. Should you find yourself coming up this way, they all get big ^ from me.

Enjoy the Open - I haven't been to live Tour golf yet, and it's something I'd really like to do. I always had to work the weekend that the ladies were at Seaview Marriott, but one of the hotel sales managers I knew in AC would volunteer. She got her picture with Annika and a few others. Sad part is that the course that hosted the ladies has gone down the pooper as far as conditioning since they left.

An 841-yard par-6? Oh hell yeah. I like that.

I know I've said it before, but I really want to play the course attached to Indy Speedway.

I forgot to list mine.

We were at some horrible hotel (Sheraton? Baglady would remember) at LHR and I needed a pair of socks. I asked at the front desk as they had no gift shop. The first guy looked at me as I had three heads. Another guy ran in back and came out with a pair that were something like £8 a couple of years ago when the dollar sucked against the pound.

The toe of the socks were black, as was the band at the top. The middle was gray. Not so horrible you say? In between each gray and black portion is a lovely band of red.

I wore them on Tuesday. :)

No, it was the horrible Ren at LGW. I believe the Sheraton at LHR actually has a gift shoppe. You still have those socks? Ugh!

Hmmm, on one of the several times UA lost my luggage to HKG, I bought a mens Nike short and polo shirt combo to wear so that I could work out. It was a hideous steele grey/blue. I believe I still own the shirt. After all the clothes were stolen out of my bag (HKG again) and I had a scant 30 mins of shopping at Pacific Place on one trip; I came up with one outfit then did the rest of my shopping at the airport the next day. I had bought a pink/white jacket so found a white tee which had a snow white in pink on it to wear under the jacket. Needless to say, the shirt was never worn again.

I did not think my shopping choices in XIA would be world class. So I power shopped in PVG, the problem is that it was pretty darn tough to find something in my size. My shirt size is a 17/35 but the XXL stuff they had made me look like I borrowed something from Peewee Herman's wardrobe.

You know I love you, but it was XMN.

I want to come. We'll figure it out.

I've done the Houston open once before and the amazing Baglady bought me a berth in a Champions Tour Pro-AM. We had a lot of fun that week.

There's some great holes there (although the baseball diamond par 3 is stupid). I would pay to watch my friends really misjudge the waterfall and island greens ;). It's fun watching one say "should have taken more club" and the next taking the same club ...

Many holes are tests of various golf skills and styles. Last time out, I got stuck in the absolute cabbage ringing a pot-bunker to the left an short of the 18th (there are three nines, but the longest hole nine are labeled 10-18). About five yards from the pin, I actually doubted I could get down in three in order to win.
