I am seriously considering going back to UA.
I have 2 itineraries on hold. They expire tonight. With DEQM and those 2 itineraries. I'll have 90,000EQM, which leaves 2 transcon for me to do before the end of year. Piece of cake. I will have requalified CO GOLD on Sunday. I think I'll stop there. I have a couple of CO e-cert worth $125+ each. If I go back to UA, I'll give those out to box'ers. tick toc tick toc In fact I got to thinking how bad these DEQMs are for these companies, others arguing how it will draw money, I think it may very well be a nail in the coffin. With the way UA has mistake fares someone could be top level elite for less than I pay CO for GRK-FLL RT, losing them money, then they move on to the next airline to get more wallet candy. It doesn't generate IMO a loyalty that some are selfishly arguing, it generates wallet candy whores that are seeking only cheap mileage runs. |

If the DEQM is that big of a draw for you, you weren't worth it for CO anyway :D (please udnerstand I mean nothing personally by this)

I seriously doubt there are enough FT MR type people to put a serious dent in UA's Bottom line. They are bleeding cash for a multitude of reasons, but I doubt FTers and Mileage Runners are anywhere close to the main reason.
DL forums already have a lot of people saying this is great, I can go to another airline sooner and still have my Medallion status for 2010 at DL. |

I wasn't giving us that much credit :D but I am saying that there WILL be people that hit their goal sooner and stop flying UA to test the waters at AA, DL, CO etc because they got their goal, they will take their normal business elsewhere not keep it there because they got their desired elite level.

Regardless of how UA should run its company (I think I'll leave that up to UA), I have to think about whats best for me. I moved to CO looking for more complimentary domestic upgrades, but I'm getting a lot less. This year, the upgrade percentage has been HORRIBLE. It's not just me. If you do a search, you'd find that many people are getting a ridiculously low rate~10-20%. I mean, I was on a semi-expensive coach fare, and I was like #25 on the list. Out of LAX, I HAVE TO connect via IAH. My only other options are CLE and EWR and those are just as hard to upgrade. There are too many Plats. Sure, I really enjoy the inflight products. CO meals are excellent. However, I actually find that a lot of the CO FAs are simply . As inferior as UA's meals are, UA FAs provide good service for the most part IME. And, UA really treats 1Ks like royalty. CO Plat is just like every other elite. Last year, as an 1K with 110,000 BIS (not lite), and partially with thanks to FT, I never had to sit in coach, not even once. This year on CO, I've sat in coach plenty of times... So, I really don't know why I need to stay with CO. If anything, I think Gold is enough for the 100% RDM and be eligible for B fare upgrades. |

On a pretty general site that I have with around 250k hits a month, I get around 6-8k clicks a month. Not great, but it sustains the site. Talking about specific numbers gets a little hairy due to the TOS of AdSense. |
I ran my upgrade percentages a few days ago. 78% so far for the year, which is much better than what I was running last year. I've just come to the conclusion that there's random variability in EUA rates. However, being based on the West Coast, BlissWorld's baseline EUA rate will likely be lower than someone based in IAH who doesn't travel exclusively to EWR/LAX/SFO.

However, I understand from the what is good for you standpoint, and I also understand what you expressed as the too many plats, not enough upgrades as EXACTLY why CO should not DEQM. It just doesn't make sense from a business standpoint to inflate the ranks more when you are already bursting at the seams with them. |

I am just now catching up on my Box reading.
The trip was fantastic and I still do not know why West Texas gets a bad rap. There are actually some really nice retreats and spas out there and it is true isolation and removal from society (if that's what a person is after). It is a beautiful part of the country that is too often forgotten. Driving down a two lane highway at 80 miles an hour at an altitude of 8,000 ft. is a great experience. When I get the pictures all edited and ready to go I'll post them. The S/O was upset that AA does not serve any kind of snack in Y for breakfast and took note that they did not serve anything in F either (she was at the bulkhead). She was proud of herself earning us $300 in vouchers though. Looking forward to your pictures; would be interested in that trip. |

I'm rather surprised, but I guess they felt they'd lose too much. Good thing I didn't drop that cash on a SYD ticket. Looks like a PHL-DUB or the like might be in my future instead. And, it looks like previously booked tickets count, so my PTY run next weekend is in. So is PBI for the Freddies. Good times. |
