New dots and lines coming up. Looks like I'll be doing HOU-DFW-GGG-DFW-IAH in late June. HOU-DFW and DFW-GGG will be new, and I get an MD-83 on the way back. It has been a while since I was on one of those.

Boy, Box was busy the last couple of days.

So took the IAD-LHR at 1800 hours on Friday, only 19 out of the 40+ C seats occupied on UA (777).

Came back today and had the chance to try UA's new C seats on a 767. Very similar to the prototype C seat CO is planning to install. One of the few times I actually slept on a lie flat. For some reason I sleep better at an angle instead of the lie flats. The AVOD was nice even though it had to be rebooted twice to get it going right. C cabin on the return flight was 2/3 full.

Sure is. Gave a graduation present to a buddy about 7 years ago, was a silver ingot and a one ounce gold American Eagle to commemorate the year. I asked for the gold back recently :D. Needless to say the answer was no.

Those maintenance cost (365K for me) basically makes continuous expansion in AM 1.0 not worth it.

I can't believe that with like 80 jets, including over 40 767s, my DOC in AM1.0 is less than 20x that of my five HS748s, one An-24 and one Shorts 360 in Third World. And the actual monthly profit is even fewer multiples.

Maybe when I get my next plane. Not really sure I want to drop the $6-12MM to do it.

Again one of the things I dislike about the AM world. Who starts an airline with one plane, one hub and half a million in the bank??

My rationale is that you save on gate fees, which are charged each month, while the hub outlay is just one-time. By running multiple hubs, you get a lot more out of those gate fees over time. Also, from single hub, you'll soon run out of big markets nearby. So, it's either less profits from thinner routes, or have to run longer routes (more expensive planes taking more time) to get to those far away big markets.

2.0 is being set up tomorrow. I think I'll pass on Third World. I'd rather sink those tokens into making 2.0 better, either thru quantity of hubs or starting cash.
