1. W Montreal
2. W Mexico City
3. W Dallas Victory
4. W Los Angeles, Westwood
5. W Honolulu (Sadly, Leaving SPG)
6. W New Orleans
7. W San Francisco
8. W New Orleans, French Quarter
9. W Silicon Valley
10. W San Diego (downright terrible service, but Beach bar is very cool)

I need to stay at some of these - it seems like the only W's I've stayed at have been mediocre.

The W Mexico City was ok - the bar/lounges were really nice, as was the lobby, but I was not overly impressed with my room. The furnishings were a bit weathered, there were scuff marks all over the walls, the floor was some uninspiring/cheap-looking tile, and my funky, round bathtub/shower lacked a shower curtain.

I've stayed at the W SF pre-renovation and was not impressed. W Silicon Valley also was a bit disappointing.

That said, I think may make the move over to Starwood Plat this year - SPG is just too generous a program to pass up.

Never made it over to the W in SAN (what is that location considered exactly? The  district?) but agree regarding the Marriott.

Which ones are you staying at?

I really wish W would open up a Safari-Park Resort and a Ski Resort somewhere. They've got Vieques, they've got Maldives. It's time for W Kilimanjaro and W Queenstown.

Really? I didn't hear this. When are they leaving?

Don't know exact date (May, Perhaps), but recall reading it in the SPG Forum. Not the most edgy W in terms of design, but a very tranquil escape on the fringes of Waikiki that I'll definitely miss as an SPG option.

Mornin' box.

IAH seems to have contracted a case of the :rolleyes::rolleyes:

My friend's inbound got hit with a maintenance delay and now they are circling. She's already misconnected and they told her they have no more seats to AUS for the day.

In other news, I found out that my Lenovo S10 is one of the recommended mini's to become a Hack-in-tosh. Sounds like I may have a new project on my hands.

I've stayed at (in no particular order):

The Tuscany
Times Square
Union Sq.
New Orleans (across from Harrah's)
Si Valley
Chicago City

I think I've mentioned this beforebut after you get over the design qualities of W's, they're nothing more than overpriced with almost universally poor service.

Really, the W is out of the way and that's one of the issues with it. They originally claimed it was a gateway between downtown and Little Italy. It's no where near The Gaslamp Quarter which is easily about 7-8 blocks away to the edge. It's about 3-4 blocks from the southern edge of Little Italy.

I think they claim it's in Little Italy, but really, it's not. While I've never stayed there, i've worked a number of events there and the staff is just annoying and hard to deal with. The hotel is a bit too arrogant for it's own good.

I find many of the base-level rooms at Ws to be cramped and . This is why I low-ball my rankings for Ws that aren't generous with Plat upgrades. I recall your room, and second your . However, I thoroughly enjoyed my Fantastic Suite. :D

Plat makes all the difference with SPG Stays. I remember being underwhelmed with the program and hotels when I was Gold. The difference between Plat and Gold/CRPF with SPG is like the difference between Plat and no-status with CO. They are worlds apart.

Mine, too. I spent a few months staying at the W Chicago - City Center. I had a great rate and the client was the next door down, but otherwise the place was meh. I don't get the excitement over their properties, service or style. Not for me.

I didn't even know there was a W in Istanbul - looks like a nice property.

I was there last September. It is a nice building in the lobby/bar areas but I didn't get up in to any of the rooms to see what they were like. Also, it is rather out of the way from any public transit so not terribly convenient. There is some high-end shopping to be found, but otherwise not much of a draw to that neighborhood, IMO.

I actually have had very good experiences with upgrades at W. I have been upgraded to suites at pretty much all the Ws I've stayed except for Seattle (y'all know what happened with the special "comment" in my reservation ). I'd probably rank them (in terms of rooms, not service):

1. W Hong Kong (Marvelous and fantastic suite)
2. W Montreal (WOW suite)
3. W New York Times Square (Fantastic suite)
4. W Chicago - City Center (Marvelous suite)
5. W San Francisco (Fantastic suite)
6. W Chicago - Lakeshore (Fantastic suite)
7. W Honolulu (Corner high floor room)
8. W Seattle (Fabulous room )
9. W New York - The Court (Fantastic suite) - yes, fabulous room at seattle is better than suites at the court and tuscany.
10. W New York - Tuscany (Fantastic suite)

Anyone with a pulse would be better than most of our present pitching staff.

Houston has had some increidble pitching staffs through the years, when they have good pitching, the bats aren't there, when they have the bats the pitching isn't there.

Rangers are in the same boat but they almost never had good pitching, until the pitcher leaves! Then he leaves two years goes on an insane tear and comes back to the rangers only to be sucky again.

So it sounds like something in the system not in the players to me :)

Morning, Box. I just got invited to a cocktail reception at the residence of Ireland's consul general.

My weird stories are starting to match those of other Boxers....Irish consul, freak AMS trip, character in a children's book. I'm still waiting for a story to happen to me that rivals sbm12's Secret Service story.

LOL... Me too.. The :rolleyes: Seattle is beat by the Sheraton in my book.

Almost always stay at the Tuscany/Court in NYC and I have always gotten a suite with a separate bedroom.

I'm glad to see the 2 Ws opening in Ft. Lauderdale and South Beach and for those who want to stay at a W resort on an Island and don't want to pay 2 grand a night, W Retreat & Spa - Vieques Island outside Puerto Rico is opening this fall.

Tell me about it.

I do remember watching Nolan Ryan pitch in the Astrodome as a kid. That was sweet. I also got to see Clemens and Pettite pitch in the playoffs the year we went to the World Series. ^
