Nice! However, I highly recommend booking an ocean front villa and save your points. The villas are surprising affordable (not cheap, but affordable, especially with Z3R) and are worth it.

I'm determined to keep all Honeymoon reservations on points. The goal I set was to do all honeymoon hotels and most flights on points, leaving as much as possible available for discretionary spending during the trip. It worked out fairly well...

167K SPG Points
440K CO Miles
30K BD Miles

Does Starwood upgrade Plats on point stays? If so, you may have a chance at one of their ocean front villas - they look fantastic! We're spending 5 nights in one and I can't wait.

SPG only upgrades plats to standard suites, usually the lowest levels. However, they do upgrade plats to specialty suites sometimes, but very very rare. I know the hotel has a policy to not upgrade Plats to the villas....but, who knows, exceptions are often made ;)

Btw, I highly recommend getting spa services at the hotel. They are cheeeeeeeeap.

I'm apparently visiting the wrong W's. Every stay has been an abundance of  and nothing more.

Yes they do. I will likely request one for upgrade in advance (as we arrive around 1am, and I don't want to run the risk that they have one, but it hasn't been cleaned) by emailing the GM.

I stayed there in December of '07. No upgrade on a one-night stay. Hotel wasn't even close to full.

Due to some inconveniences with our original reservation, I was able to secure a complimentary 1 hour couple's massage at the spa. ^

I'll PM you the email address of the person I have worked with at the property. I'm not sure if it is the GM, but they have been very helpful.

Yea, I said the Mets already. :p

That would be great, thanks! Even if we can't upgrade to a villa, I doubt I'll be disappointed with the 1,200 sq. ft. Suite. The room description in the confirmation email sounded pretty nice. :D

Really? I didn't hear this. When are they leaving?

This is one of my favorite hotels. It's great on weekends when it's warm enough to go walk out onto the jettys in the bay. And, besides, what other W can you find that is $110/night on weekends. :)

Maybe i've been to Beach too much, but I find it's rather overrated. The rooftop bar at The Ivy or Altitude at the Gaslamp Marriott are so much nicer.

No kidding, even the standard rooms sound nice! If you guys have a terrible stay, I'll still have a few months to make a quick change to our reservation. :D
