ETA:

Now I notice the Le Méridien Piccadilly will be a Category 5 as of Mar 2, 2009. I am thinking I am going to try to stay there for the same amount of points I was going to spend before anyway.

;)

Whoever named the streets around where I live deserves a swift kick in the arse. There's a Lakewood, Lakeward, Old Lake, New Lake, Lake, Lakeville, Lakeland, and probably a few more I'm forgetting.

Do you know how hard it is to decipher which road a call is on over a scratchy portable radio when they all sound alike?

I thought that was only a NJ thing. In our area we have a 9th Ave, N 9th St, E 9th St and none of these damn people know which one they live on when they call 9-1-1 on their disconnected cell phone.

Now off to check Tokyo hotels for starpoints. :)

NJ is far worse than NY in every conceivable way. :D

Yes, we have the N / S / E / W road name kerfuffle too. We also have a crazy phenomenon where roads will stop and then start again on the other side of a block of property and you have to go around the block to access it.

Could you imagine dispatching on Chicago? "Yes, I have an emergency on Wacker." "Which one?" "I don't know, what are the options?" "Upper, Lower, North, East, Central, South, Northeast, UpperSouth, Regular, and then all the connector ramps and corridors."

ETA and let's not forget roads that have different endings. e.g. Main St, Main Rd. Main Ln. Main Ct.

Ah, Grass Valley. I remember using an old Grass Valley 3000 switcher while I was in college. I was one of the few who figured out how to use it during the course of my education, so I was asked to be the TD regularly.

Bonus fact, if you watch the Star Wars movies where they have shots of the control bridge on the Imperial battle cruisers, they have Grass Valley 3000 switchers painted white to look like a different control surface. Now there's some specific geekery.

I don't want to bring this up in the photo thread but I'm wondering if anyone's had any experience with giving photo permission to nowpublic.com? They just asked about a JetBlue photo I have but I'm reluctant to do it mainly because it's one of those sites you have to get an account just so they can use your photo. I find that weird for some reason.

Oh yeah, we have that. Maple street will run for 6 blocks, stop at someones front yard and then start up 7 blocks over on the other side of town. Some streets we have are broken up in 5 and 6 sections

I would personally stay at the Park Lane. I stayed at the LM back in April 2007 and while the lobby was nice, the hotels looked like something off the set of Dynasty.

The Park Lane seemed a bit more current. The other issue with the LM is that it's right on Picadilly, so on weekends they lock the doors as they get a lot of riff-raff trying to get in.

I can kick myself. I only booked NRT for 4 nights there... Now I can't take advantage of the 5th night free

In SPG Land, there are some horrific stories about the PL, but I will most likely stay there, If they are not available I will stay at the Sheraton Belgravia to save the 8K in points

Come on CO, hook a brother up. 9 out of 12 seats are open in F and I'm still in back.:mad::mad::rolleyes::mad:
