He was advocating affirmative action in the job creation that allegedly is going to result from the next phase of the bailout, but articulated it in a ridiculous manner, saying something like "we don't need these jobs going to white, male construction workers when there are many other people who need the jobs. Now, I have nothing against white, male construction workers.".

operation get a bump on DL 422 failed. I beat a hasty retreat from the airport and refunded my ticket.

Note to self: Coen Brothers flicks aren't worth my time. I'm posting while watching Burn After Reading because The Box has better odds of holding my interest.

Sounds better this way.

Went out for sushi tonight. Ended up in a Venezuelan place that was pretty phenomenal. Yummy.

sfogate, glad to hear no tear.

Steph3n, good luck with the new venture.

Ouch! I know there's at least one big conference going on this weekend in New Orleans — my partner was originally supposed to be there right now for it, but his employer canceled his attendance as part of their budget chopping that's been going on lately.

My IAH-MSY flight on Monday is not looking too full. And the EUA for that one came five days out.

No bump tonight. There's some sort of huge auto trade show in town. My plane was packed to the gills with elites. Thankfully, I had an exit-row aisle.

If I started collecting the glassware for all the different types of beer I enjoyed in BRU, I'm pretty sure I would quickly be bankrupt.

That's ssullivan's +1's industry, no?

Yes and a few of us got our picture taken as we hung out the window! ;)

They can also "force" you onto the next flight leaving, if they so desired. It's not always done because of the possibility of overselling the next one, but you might be able to talk your way onto it and then take another bump. :D

Hmmm.... this was the start of a good day bumping for me last year. The agents in the PC were getting standby flights, I volunteered, told to get on, then as I was packing my stuff in overhead told to de-plane. The Red Coat then finds out after the flight left that he didnt have a seat for me, the PC, the agent at the counter keep telling me she hoped they had to put me on SWA to LBB, but after 30 minutes the Red Coat returned saying he had to force me onto the flight to which I respond to the Red Coat, do I volunteer with you or do I have to go to the gate. He responded - Not my problem. I walked to the next gate, and got the next voucher right away. In the end I got $900 in travel vouchers, $36 in food/drink, and spent the day in the IAH B PC making friends with the agents there and having a full day of extra visiting with my family. In the end I made it on the last flight out that night to LBB! What a weekend as I got $500 on that Friday as I left to go home! $150 ticket, $1400 in Travel Vouchers, Ejoying a few beers in the PC and getting paid for it, Priceless!

Here in Houston, it's the Houston Auto Show. Starts tomorrow. Why pay $10 ($8 with a $2 off coupon on-line) to go to it to see cars?!? Along w/ the recession and no cool concepts, the HAS is irrelevant.

sfogate, very nice diagnosis on your kid. A little PT, and back to the athletic fields!^

The Philly Auto Show is much the same. The coolest thing I've ever seen there was Tommi Maakinen's Subaru WRX rally car, and Buick's shockingly good Harley Earl impersonator.
