Didn't some people report earlier this year (when EUA was messed-up), that CO's system wasn't recognizing status on some reservations that were made prior to attaining status. Perhaps I am misremembering. This is a common problem with SPG's IT system. If you just changed status levels with SPG (for the better), always call the hotels where you have pre-booked reservations, and have them refresh the reservation. Otherwise, you'll find yourself getting Gold treatment as a Plat, or non-status treatment as a Gold.

I think that's only a problem with some Starwood hotels. The newer ones, using the latest system, appear to be getting it real-time, based on my recent experience.

Of course it's still annoying that they can't post a PDF of your folio to your account on their website, like Hilton does, or automatically e-mail you a copy of the folio, regardless of the hotel, like Marriott does.

Starwood really needs to get itself into the current decade when it comes to technology.

LOL. It is a bit of an Oxymoron. SPG might as well not have a Gold tier. It is absolutely useless. Plat is phenomenal with them, though.

I don't have much trouble with my gold SPG status. I certainly don't get suites at check-in or anything, but I get my breakfasts and some bonus points. Considering that I get it from AmEx PLT I think I do pretty well for the amount I invested to achieve it.

You've been lucky with the breakfast thing. IME, only a few SPG properties offer free breakfast to elites (not counting continental breakfast spreads in club lounges). I'm pretty pleased with the W Montreal, looks like they have pre-blocked me into a Suite for my stay in *two weeks*. For a hotel that is renowned for not upgrading Plats, this was quite a welcome surprise when I checked my reservation.

I called and the rep said they are out of upgradeable seats and the remaining seats are revenue. If they do not sell the seats I could get upgraded the day of at the airport.

Yeah. I've never received anything other than a free bottle of water and the occasional extra  with my SPG Gold status. Once in a blue moon I'll get a jr. suite.

I should petition SPG. AmEx Plat Gold + Butt in Bed gold = Plat? Right? :o

How are you dealing with the shaking and fainting spells?

I'm drinking straight Grey Goose. Ok, not really straight - there are blue cheese olives in it as well.

I'm terrified that Dark Rum will become the next "trendy" spirit. Mount Gay Extra Old and Cruzan Single Barrel Estate Rum are already expensive enough. I shudder to think how much they would jack up the cost if Rum suddenly became the next Tequila or Bourbon.

That makes it dinner.

More importantly - UPS just delivered my Biscoff order.

If I can't sit in the PClub, I'll just create my own at home.

Jealous. Have I ever mentioned how much I love Biscoffs? :D :p

Does anyone in The Box have experience with blocking off rooms at a Marriott? I spoke with a Sales Manager today about it today and when I inquired about the MR points, she said I would receive points "for booking the block". We are not paying for these rooms so I know I don't get MR points/stays as I would if I had paid for them, but what does Marriott do in this case? Do I get some points as a thank you for choosing Marriott for our guests?
