Agreed. It's also nice to have it done for free at a state facility. In PA, it had to be done by a certified mechanic every year. I forget how much it cost, but it was not cheap.

Yeah in Texas you pay to have it done at repair place too. There are also sticker shacks in Texas, which do nothing but state safety inspections.

It doesn't cost a huge fortune though, but the price does vary by locale, depending on whether you live in an area subject to emissions testing or not.

I wonder if anyone was dumb enough to mess with Mike Tyson when he went to prison.

I'll concede the point about once a year, but the NJ inspections that we know and hate are the furthest thing from free that there is out there.

The same can be said about any government funded service/activity/etc. I'd rather pay for it through taxes than be hassled by dropping my car off at a mechanic for an overpriced inspection.

Nice to hear he is finally being locked up for something... We all know he won't serve anywhere close to 21 years though.

It's about time. Too bad he wasn't put away 15 years ago when he should have been.

Apparently, if you post in the DL Lounge Thread, there is something called a scoow that counts you. You have been warned.

My parents own a station in Texas and I can say that the price is Govt regulated. There is a minimum and maximum that people can pay for the actual inspection. The places that do only inspections have more of a reason to up the price whereas places that do inspections as part of the rest of there process do it as a draw. Just a thought on where you go for the inspection.

My database entry says "Don't pull this guy over." I have those special plates that the state senator's offices sign off on people having. For the NJ residents out there, if you've ever seen those plates that have a 1 followed by three letters, that's the ones. I decided to go all out when I got mine: those plates are letter-coded by county. Ocean County is F. (Shocker.) My plate would have been FMH1 or 1FMH. Naaaah. My senator's office called the other senator who was the guy responsible for "M" plates, and I got my three correct initials on my plate with a 1. Is it arrogant? Yeah, maybe. But I shudder to think of all the poor schmucks who don't have their real initials on those plates.

Those special plates did you a lot of good with respect to your ticket for an expired registration. I would go back to your state senator and ask for a refund of the fee.

Also, I think we need to start a peer-pressure campaign to have CO 1E update his FlightMemory. 40,702 mi showing = Huge

I'll work on it right now and post the link after I get a few more flights up.
