Yes - in each case, they touched down and stayed at the diversion airport for more than an hour (more than two hours, in a few cases).

That counts for FM but doesn't count as a visit to the city/state/country of the diversion, IMO. I also don't count connections as visits since I never left the airport. This recently came into play at PDX as we actually went outside security for food, but still never left the airport. I've decided that it does not count as a trip to Oregon for me so I still have never been there, despite passing through the airport and the TSA lines there.

I would agree, and was only considering such for Flightmemory purposes.

You both just reminded me I forgot to stop at the wine store. Argh.

My photo Christmas cards are turning out to require way more craft skills than I anticipated. And I just had to perform emergency Photoshop work so a color wouldn't clash with the card.

I truly don't know why we decorate at all - we're not home and we are always in FLL. What's the point of dressing up a house that you're not occupying at the time?

To deter Cat Burglers of course.....

Sorry, missed your question earlier.

Yes, according to my rules, they count. That's how I got my BHM-ATL line.

does anyone know if 1GB flash drives are still out there at all?

You can buy one at Micro Center in Paterson, New Jersey or Westbury, New York for $4.99.

The 2-gigabyte flash drive is $5.99.

Here is the entire selection of flash drives from which you may choose.

You can also order on-line via the Internet at http://microcenter.com if you prefer.

Today is day five in ATL, with no set date of going home. :( What is there to do in this town by yourself that isn't horridly expensive? I already tried drinking, but I think I now know way too much about the lives of the bartenders in this hotel.

AA is serving burgers in first now.........will CO finally get a new menu?!

Here is a link to my very incomplete Flightmemory. Most of the international routes and dots are there, but the domestic flights are nowhere near complete.

I was raised by the travel industry standards, which is to say that a place was counted as "visited" if alcohol was consumed.

Good point. Funny you should mention that; the Queen is beckoning as we speak that I put the stupid things up.

Greetings from God's waiting room (FLL). It's so freaking bizarre down here.

Observations from today's traveling.

Ways to tell you don't belong in the Elite Access security line:
  • You're wearing a fanny pack.
  • You're wearing jesus sandals with socks.
  • You could tell me you make your own gasoline from recycled fryer oil and I wouldn't doubt you for one second.

And, I'm sorry, I don't care if you're elite or not. If you're traveling with someone that requires a stroller, don't use the elite line. Thanks.

On board
  • I proactively asked the gentleman sitting next to me if he wanted me to switch seats with his wife, who was sitting across the aisle and up a row. I swear, he almost kissed me. He said "last time I asked someone to switch seats I thought they were going to punch me."
  • There was a woman who had to have been a high-end escort sitting in the first cabin. On the 2.5 hour flight, she spent a solid 2 hours playing with her makeup. When the flight attendant sneezed I was worried she was going float back to coach she was so skinny.
  • Why on earth to people feel compelled to print out their entire inbox and then read their emails on board - spam and all?
  • And why do these same people feel compelled to hand shred every document after they're done with it.
  • I see this all the time.

Once in FL
  • Avis fails me yet again. Their computers were down so everything was being done by hand. At least I got a car with only 1,000 miles on it (G6). After 90 minutes. -sigh-
  • Let's see if my Florida employee AWD goes through when I return the car. Should be interesting.
  • I hate Florida drivers.
  • I am the only caucasion person (that I've seen) staying in this hotel.
  • I used an expired promo rate from an email and it worked. I'm staying at the (recently renovated and not at all bad) Sheraton Suites Cypress for $69/night. Winner winner.

I'm done.
