Count your blessings. It could have been an ex-Comair Sh!tauqua CRJ with broken air conditioning and a non-functioning lavatory.

You can thank whoever decided it would be great to install shower heads below 6' in hotel rooms (this is something that transcends hotel brands). I really appreciate having the clean crotch, but washing my hair is very difficult.

I feel your pain! I was b!tching about this last night at the Baton Rouge Sheraton. The ceiling in that bathroom was so low that my hair was touching the ceiling while in the shower. And this is in a hotel that's maybe 10-15 years old, if that. And the mirror over the sink? Well, it was so low that the only hair I could possibly style in it without getting down on my knees is hair most people don't get to see.

I was squatting about 4", while trying to maintain good aim. After accomplishing that I feel like I should try out for Cirque du Soleil (I already have the Canadian credentials )

I've never been brave, or desperate, enough to venture back to the lav of a CRJ-100/200. I have, as one certain PWP leader will gladly recount, with much laughter, once — and only once — ventured into the first class lav of a CR9 in much desperation during a 2.5-3 hour SLC-IAH flight. And the experience was much as you describe. I felt like some sort of contortionist, and I flexed parts of my body that I didn't know could be flexed to get into that tiny little space to do my business. NEVER AGAIN.

There is no pleasure in that.

Did you get an ex-US FA as well? They are a scary bunch.

I had some very nice US FAs last week.

But then on my last flight I had one that I'm not sure if it was a he or a she. And whatever was down below, this individual was not very nice. Actually, p!ssed off at the entire universe would be an apt description of his/her/its mood.

This might have made me laugh harder than "farting in bed" or "my first ruler".

I laughed so hard I'm afraid the Marriott concierge is going to cut me off the alcohol here in the lounge.

Si. See. I would love to do this itin, as I really want to get back to SFO...only catch is that I couldn't this with the fiancee because every port is a great golf course.

My first assertion was wrong. The Mayan Riviera is south of Cancun, not the Mexican Riviera. :o

Ok how do some of you taller people use the F lav on 737's? I've only used one once and I had to lean my head backwards to keep my nose getting smashed against the side and I'm less than 6'

She started telling the woman behind me to take her child to the lav before departure because passengers were not allowed out of there seats within one hour of departure from or arrival at DCA. When I explained that that the "no pee rule" had been rescinded several years ago, she said that I was wrong, and that their manual stated that it recently had been modified to be 60 minutes from 30 minutes of DCA. I explained again that the FAA policy had been rescinded, and she suggested that the FAA was wrong and that it should change its "manual" to reflect the 60 minute no pee rule (presumably because that is what the Sh!tauqua manual said and, of course, we all know that must be correct). No "no pee" announcement was made after our conversation, however.

I certainly hope you reported this.

I had one not too long ago in an older Marriott. The one in the Sheraton last night was probably right at 6' — it was mounted about as high as it could be, given the ridiculously low ceiling in that bathroom.

I prefer them mounted around 7'.

Funny — you're the first person I know that's been on both of those lines who has said that. Generally I hear it's a lot better on Royal Caribbean, at least in terms of quality.

Did they run out of glass or ever think about using a shower curtain instead

Yeah, what's up with those? And apparently the place my partner and his sister stayed in Barcelona last week had a bathroom that had so little privacy that the other one had to leave the one for one to use the toilet or shower and not be somewhat exposed. That may be OK if you're a couple, but in a room with two twin beds, they should assume that the occupants probably aren't comfortable seeing each other in the nude.

I can do it, but it's not overly comfortable. I end up lowering my chin down to my chest usually.

Amazingly, I find the ERJ lav pretty roomy, especially for such a small plane. It's probably because it takes up the full width of the fuselage, as opposed to being crammed into just half the fuselage width.

ssullivan Dec 2, 2008 5:19 pm

OK, back to my room I go. I've had enough of the sensationalism on Fox News playing here in the hotel's lounge… and the longer I sit here, the more tempted I am to snack and drink.

sfogate Dec 2, 2008 5:25 pm

Short person rant:

I hate shower heads that are mounted so high that I have to stand back so that I don't get my hair wet. I don't always want to wash my hair when I take a shower.

Do you have any idea what it's like to sit on a toilet (at my advanced age) and have your feet dangling off the floor?

Trying to reach the top shelf of anything.

Trying to hop onto a bar stool without missing and looking like you're drunk when you're not.

The cost of hemming pants.

I guess they accept that , considering I change the channel on the tv and every other channel has a show with nudity , or a commercial with nude people in it.

I do however reccommend the Hotel 1898 in Barcelona , even though it has the glass door effect , the hotel is excellent .
I was suppossed to stay at Le Meridien across the street but it was sold out since all the Starwood Employees that are here for the same Feria which I am attending are staying there.
