I had a similar problem with a parking ticket. Interesting note, if you pay it on your own before the company gets the notice, then they can't charge you.
I was a little late paying my parking ticket and the notice to Avis had gone out. A quick call to Avis and a fax of the receipt reversed all the charges. So, I imagine, if you stay on the ball and pay the toll a) before the rental car company gets notified or b) directly to the toll authority and keep the receipt, you should be ok. And there's really no way to send in the payment without the notice that you need to pay it — and that only comes after the rental car company has been involved. I'd gladly pay NTTA up front and not ever let National know about it, but that's really not an option in this case. |

As is customary of me but rather late to this thread, I hope that everyone enjoys this version of the Lounge thread concept here in the Continental OnePass forum.
I remember when I was a OnePass Gold Elite on Continental Airlines back in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and that was the top tier at that time. I should have tried for Lifetime Gold status. I was not that far away from it, but what did I know back then?

Actually, the East Brunswick offices are vacant at this point and have been for some time.
I remember when New Jersey 101.5 had an unsuccessful campaign to abolish tolls in New Jersey back in the early 1990s. Have there been any additional campaigns since then, other than this? |

Keep in mind our citizens were incapable of putting the little registration stickers on the license plate correctly so they dropped that program. Actaully it's the NJTA that runs the GSP and Tpk. Exec. offices are in the old Tpk offices in East Brunswick and ops and engineering are in the old Parkway office in Woodbridge.

Yeah, the problem is that when there's no place to pay the toll, I can't. I pay it if there's a collection booth.

Ahh, I was suggesting that if you could pay the agency before the notice goes out, you should be ok. In theory, even if you pay them directly after National sends you a notice, National can't charge you. At least that is how it worked out with my parking ticket and Avis. |

Actually, no. Texas registration stickers were on license plates for many years, up until around 1992 or 1993. They were moved to inside the windshield because of rampant problems with theft of registration stickers off license plates in some urban areas. There were thugs stealing the stickers off license plates to put on their own cars to avoid the annual registration fee, which in Texas, is next to nothing compared to what it is in other states.

I should have been more specific. I was trying to state the fact that TX has their reg stickers on their windshields, like NJ. .

I wonder how CO Silvers are ever going to manage upgrades now that NW is parting ways with CO. I guess they can work in a 753 IAH-MSY on a Saturday morning once per year to remember what the front cabin looks like. :D

I think it took me about three weeks of off-and-on inputting during the evenings to get it mostly right. I'm about 95% confident on Equipment Types and Registration Numbers for 1995-Present. I need to start working through OAG's to get the earlier equipment types right, and make sure my IAH-MZT vs. IAH-MEX-MZT routings are accurate (I flew IAH-MZT nonstop in the 80s when CO offered it, as CO often cancelled/restarted the route). I'm hoping the Bureau of Transportation Statistics or FAA have stored Registration Numbers for flights somewhere (presumably on microfiche) so I can make a trip up to D.C. and cull older tail-number records for my pre-1995 flights.

Ahh, thank you. I couldn't remember which acronym they switched to. And re: the stickers, while that was going on it just fueled my conspiracy theory about New Jersey. I don't think that NJ will stop infringing on people's lives until we are all dog-like...the NJ chip. We're going to have little GPS antennas installed in us...oh never mind, that was EZPass.

The stickers on the NJ windshields are inspection stickers and have nothing to do with registraion. My inspection and registration are out of sync by 3 months.
