It's hard to believe how much damage we have in OH from Ike. Yesterday they said over 1.9 million were w/o power in OH - some will be that way for a week.

We have a mammoth tree down in the yard - had estimates yesterday to just cut it up and haul it and those started at 1,100 and went up to 2,500. Uggghh. If we could get rid of the stuff we'd just go buy a chainsaw!

Anyway, I'll get back to ORD late tonight - luckily I have a very, very understanding client :)

Hope our TX/LA colleagues from FT are faring better today.

Congrats on the new job!!

I have to say that IAH doesn't really look all that bad. Sure, there are still some people sleeping in the airport and whatnot, but the grounds/facilities that I've seen thus far look pretty good. CO did a great job of getting things cleaned up.

CM, congrats and welcome back. :-:

In other news: what on earth was that "thing" last night. ESPN kept calling it a football game, but it looked more like a train-wreck to me.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go drop my coffee mug 5 feet before I get to the coffee machine.

 I lost my fantasy football thanks to that "game "
It went something like this pass to TO for touchdown - NO lets call pass interference and put the ball on the 2 yard line so Marion barber can walk in the endzone and beat my team

SBM12, or any other FT'er going through IAH today. Are the food courts open and serving food?

Had an Air Force Two sighting this morning on my way into work...whether or not Cheney was on board I don't know, but it was one of the VIP 752's. No camera with me and no place to pull over and get the shot. Saw it lower the gear approaching ACY.

I don't have a blackberry - but for those of you who do:

I love this line: "The study of 6,500 traveling executives says 35 percent of them would choose their PDA over their spouse."

Heheheh

A coworker who transited through IAH last night told me that there were some, but not all, restaurants open in Terminal E. The ones that were open were operating with somewhat limited menus, but they were serving.

Do you have power yet?

Still no power but cell service seems to be improving. Our neighbors have a generator and have let us charge our phones.

The evenings are a little creepy with the streets completely dark and all.

For those who have not heard, Brennan's burned to the ground and a few people were killed. Very sad.

We are getting limited news, is there any word about loss of life? I heard someone this morning say 4,000 but that is unimaginable. Any word would be great.

Congrats CM!! Sorry it took me so long ;)

The AP was reporting something like 30 yesterday
and in other totally unrelated news
I can't believe people would actually buy this

Thanks! Is this the same Brennan's name as that in MSY? Creepy evenings can be fixed by keeping a weapon and a light source nearby. Hopefully no one is stupid enough to be looting. Some of my aunt's friends had some looting post-Andrew in 1992 - the Metro-Dade PD back then basically told the citizens to shoot on sight. They did. Called the cops, and they came to pick up the body with nothing more than a hearty thank you, no questions asked.

Who are all these people and why are we standing in this handbasket?

Ohio, wow. I could hardly believe that we lost some roofs in Charlotte when Hugo came ashore in Charleston a few years ago but I was truly surprised when I was told that we lost some in Louisville from this monster.
