How appropriate that my post should land on 768.

We are thinking about flying to Boston tomorrow for $238 just to get out of town.

But a cheaper alternative is to get a gate pass and hit up the PC for a hot shower, free Internet, and power outlets. Would this be wrong of us?

No.

Any of you road warriors know about the westin in Columbus, OH?

Just to note, for the first time in my life I felt "Air Rage." After pushing a midnight deadline, I got less than 4hrs sleep before my 6am flight out of BDL. On my connecting flight on COFX I was in 12A, and I passed out as soon as I sat down.

I would have slept from push-back to touchdown, but for the person in 13A decided to use my seat for leverage for getting into and out of her seat. I was so mad, I almost screamed at her for rudely waking me up. Luckily for both of us, I was so tired that before I could form the words to explain to her the following: 1) her rudeness; 2) her marginal parentage; 3) her failure as a human being; 4) her lack of education and footware; 5) how she could best serve the human race (by leaving it); and 5) how her mother was a hamster and her father smelt of elderberries, I passed back out.

Thus, I nominate the people who pull on seatbacks to the Penalty Box *hole hall of fame.

Just a standard cranky F-bomb, unfortunately. I woke up having to have that discussion.

Random work b!tch of the day:

When I let a client know a month in advance that an engagement that was originally scheduled to be done remotely is now going to be on-site, and I send a reminder e-mail the week before, they have no excuse for not knowing we need a training room for three days this week. And there's no excuse for it to take an hour this morning to find someone with a key to the room we used yesterday.

Maybe one of these days I'll actually show up at this client and they'll be here on time, and we'll have a room, and it will be unlocked, and the computers in it will work, and there will be power and lights, and the air conditioning will be working, and the roof won't be leaking from the rainstorm outside, and we'll get started right at 9:00 AM and have a productive day.

But the chances of me winning the big jackpot in the lottery are probably much greater.

Working in Louisiana is always so much fun.

I'm glad I already had a trip planned for this weekend. Will be heading out to ELP to see White Sands National Monument and the Trinity Site. May also take in a UTEP game at the Sun Bowl. ^

I'm with you on this one. It confounds me why people think someone else's seat is there for their leverage. That's what arm rests and their own seat back are for.

But, unfortunately, there's a very vocal few that think that catapulting the person in front of them is perfectly acceptable behavior whilst flying. These are also [probably] the same people who say that, when reclined, the seat in front of them intrudes into their personal space.

Really? It does? Then why were the seats DESIGNED TO RECLINE.

colpuck, is your new job in ATL or are you relocating?

The Westin Columbus is a renovated old hotel and is quite nice, IME. That said, I have not stayed there in a few years.

colpuck Sep 17, 2008 9:50 am

I am still in the ATL for the moment.

CO1E thanks for the update on the Westin.

I noticed that I should have been a bit more clear - "renovated old hotel" means renovated historic hotel building, not renovated 1970's hotel or whatnot.

Thanks, I figured that from the lack of amenities at the hotel. I don't need much, as I am going to be at a fencing tournament the whole time.
