The Air Force One special is pretty good now. The problem in Kuwait City with the hydraulics is interesting.

We went to the Houston Auto Show today - and left. There were over 1000 people in line just to buy tickets . We decided we'd try again on a weeknight (We usually go Super Bowl Sunday if we're in town and it's always quiet, but we're gone so no go) and hope for a little less crowd. We decided to head down to the Space Center since we had promised a fun filled afternoon to JR and it was the busiest I've seen it in a long time (but it was fine). Are people just bored in H town this weekend? What is with all the crowds everywhere?

I'm so spoiled. My partner made a fabulous homemade tomato basil soup tonight and gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches on sourdough with gouda, goat cheddar, and grilled onions. And homemade blueberry white chocolate chip ice cream for dessert. We had a couple of friends over to share, and they arrived with a couple of bottles of good wine.

Now I really don't want to go back to the reality of work tomorrow.

I wanted to take some shots from the top of the Stratosphere, but they do not allow tripods up there. :td:

That's why I love my camera with shake reduction and it's in the camera body so it works will all lenses. :D You can learn to get shots though without skake reduction. You'll get one good photo for every three you take.

YUM! That sounds SO good!!!! I don't want work tomorrow either; Friday was awful and I don't expect tomorrow to be much better.

The auto show will be a let down for you. I am a car nut (I subscribe to a couple of automotive mags and DVR Motorweek on PBS), and I was there on Thursday working on a story involving GM's hybrid fleet. I had a chance to walk around for a little bit, and was not impressed.:td:

We go every year; it wasn't worth the wait that's for sure!

If you lived near NYC or LAX (or even DTW), you'd see those car shows, and think Houston is a 3rd rate city when it comes to car shows. The auto industry doesn't send any of the cool cars here (or for that matter to any other city outside of those 3). The 2010 Chevy Volt - in LAX and DTW. Not anywhere else. Cool concept cars don't apply outside of those places it seems.:td:

It was! He's an excellent chef, despite the fact that he's so modest he'd never admit it. And we've reached a point where we work well in the kitchen together too. When we first met he cooked all the time, then he was living with a couple of roommates in the rental house from Hell for a few months before we got our own place. We both enjoy cooking and are getting back into it now. And it was nice to have a couple of friends over tonight to share it with as well. I also found out that one of the friends, who is a real estate attorney who handled our title when we bought our condo, is an occasional FlyerTalker. I knew he shared our passion for travel and planes, but little did I know he's on here sometimes. We even got into a discussion of mistake fares that involved him begging me to let him know about these things when I find out about them in the future. I like the guy even more now!

As for work, I have one more week of January left. It's always an awful month in my job. I've got clients that just went live with payroll on our system who are working the kinks out, and clients who are running W-2s, all at the same time. And on top of that, I've still got my regular client visits and other work going on. At least by Friday it will all calm down, I hope.

That part was entertaining. And N28000 reporting itself to ATC as a Gulfstream for the Baghdad visit was a good story.

Obama ordering his burger medium well was rather disappointing.

Oh, we know that. MR BL is from the LA area and used to live in NJ so he's been to both LAX and NYC (has never been to Detroit but would like to sometime) shows. We still have a good time.

The Inside Marine One special is WAY better than the Air Force One special. It actually focuses on the flying and the logistics, not the president.

Keep an eye out for the History channel special on Air Force One. It covers Bush's trip to Africa and all the logistics that go along with transporting the president. It was on TV a few weeks ago and was pretty good.

so we're only two weeks from the DO and not a lot of details have come out. I figured they would have given a few more clues by now

I was thinking about that yesterday. Maybe tomorrow?
