After completing the History channel miniseries America: The Story of Us (and fixing their brokeass website visitor tracking) I now want to travel the Interstate Highway System even more. The next two summers are booked, though.

In any event, it's time to sack out. Night, Box.

I think it's time to reintroduce fiction to my reading habits temporarily. I'm about to finish a book on the various fails leading up to the events at Little Bighorn, and I read a bio of Billy the Kid before that. After the current book I'm down to my last book from the most recent B&N order, which is another Billy the Kid bio. I sense a purchase of Carl Hiaasen in the near future. He cracks me up.

Yesterday, I was chatting with someone who works for HEB (a regional grocery chain in TX). I mentioned that, compared to DEN, 0% milk had far less shelf space here. He said that among their stores, the amount of rack space needed to satisfy zero fat milk demand is very highly correlated with median income of the store's customer base. Lower fat diets are a socio-economic phenomena.

Doesn't get better than that!!

Alas, I've never drank it more frequently than once or twice a month so I can't even blame it as a factor! :p I never buy it, so I keep forgetting to stock up before my mother comes to visit. She is well and truly addicted to Pepsi. Tries to give it up for Lent every year and it was only in the last couple years, once she learned that Sundays don't count, that she was able to make it. But she's much thinner than I am (that happens, even when you're in your mid-50's, when you graduate college at 90 lbs - WHY did I end up built like my dad :() so, to her, that's all that matters...

HAHAHAHA. We have the opposite problem (short and shorter). I can hardly ever be bothered to wear heels (and could care less about height difference or lack thereof), though I know that that's lazy for a person with such short legs as I have...

Yikes. We have rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception sites booked, officiant, party, and primary musicians confirmed, and primary draft of guest list being shaped. I thought that was pretty good. Oh, and I haven't mentioned the monstrosities that my mother is insisting we get for the bridesmaids to wear, but that's another story for another time. I hate them and have told her so (the response: "that's because you have no taste..."), so at this point, it's just not worth making a scene over. All these girls are good sports and know what's up, and in the grand scheme of things, something like that is totally trivial, isn't it?

About an hour ago I read an article that said whole milk isn't any worse for you than skim as it was all based on bad science years ago and may actually help you loose weight.

I've enjoyed reading almost all of the books Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child have authored together and separately.

Does low fat milk not have less cholesterol?

I'm sure it's written in stone that all bridesmaid's dresses are butt ugly and only good to start bonfires with or wear as Halloween costumes. I have a closet full of "good intentions" that I would never wear out of a dressing room but did for my dear friends that lost their fashion sense on their wedding day. :D

We haven't gotten around to it yet, but sometime if/when we're bored, tjtenor4 and I will challenge each other to the interstate game: one person names a state, and the other names the major interstates that run through that state (bonus points for the placement of major cities). He will definitely trounce me the minute we go west of the Mississippi...

If someone is getting drowsy at the wheel, the assignment is to name the elements in periodic-table order - you miss, you start back at H. I've never made it past the early 20s without a miss. Again, I always get soundly beaten. :o

So are the grocery stores that support such diets. I can't remember whether I found this article, about Whole Foods and the relatively low BMI of its clientele, here or somewhere else - so apologies if it's a repost.

 Whole milk has approximately 45% of its calories from fat. Skim has relatively none. Skim also has 1/2 the calories.

inho, organic skim milk has a richer taste than non organic and having switched to organic a while back; I have a tough time with any other skim milk.

Hello, Box. Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend.

I marched in our town parade today, accompanying LittleMissBrit's brownie troop. Phew! It was a scorcher of a day and walking at a snails pace for a mile was not fun.

Good evening Box.

I have a copy as well if anyone wants it. Otherwise it's going to Goodwill next weekend.

Ah. If no-one has taken you up on your offer, I'll take it off your hands. I haven't read it yet. PM me if you still have it and I'll give you shipping details.

I flew CO into JAX into during Spring break on a "proper" plane...... not an erj

I must have caught the same clip that you did. That girl was disgusting. She was so incredibly vulgar and coarse. Really. I don't care how much money she had, she was the epitome of white trash.

"Instead, he contends it’s because healthy, low-calorie foods cost more money and take more effort to prepare than processed, high-calorie foods"

emphasis mine. It's amazing how tough it is to cut up and bag healthier snacks/foods

I have a really low quality pic on my phone which I'll try and upload, but the deal is:

The men are wearing formal Highland dress (i.e. kilts) and tjtenor4's family tartan looks like Christmas. Okay, I can deal with that.

We don't have to match them.

The dresses she has in mind are red with exposed crinolines and big matching plaid sashes. It's totally Dolly-Parton-goes-to-the-North-Pole. Actually, it's more than anything like that episode of Sex and the City where Charlotte wears a plaid ballgown to Robert Burns Night. Kill me now.

It is true...that's one of the big responsibilities one undertakes when accepting that job. I just want to make sure they all know that whatever ugliness I would have picked, it wasn't this PARTICULAR one. :p I also have two male attendants (bridespeople?) and we have to figure out how to fit them in.
