I did the honeymoon thing in Jamaica in the 70's when there were tanks in the street in Kingston. Wasn't safe at all to go:td::td:

Good Morning Box. Hope everyone had a good weekend full of :D and less of

The potential is there to be an interesting week. Person at the new job I'm replacing is gone to NC, and my boss will only be in the office for 1.5 - 2 days this week as he is scheduled to take time off at the end of the week. And if June is anything like May was, all the  for the week will surely wait until at least Thursday to deploy.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit drinking... ;)

Me and my brother were my wife's attendants. My B-I-L had his sister and brother. I'm pretty sure that we were all listed as attendants in the program.

The whole introduction thing is kind of annoying. I would almost rather skip the fanfare (just because that's the kind of person I am), but I don't think I can get away with that. The nomenclature is really stressing me out, though - for instance, HOPEFULLY (knock on wood, pray, and encourage us both to just knock out those papers) we'll be Dr. and Dr. by then - but that's awfully pretentious for social usage, especially because neither of us is going to be an M.D. And then there's the issue of the fact that I'm keeping my name, and I'd like that to be clear yet not militantly hit people over the head with it.

My wife didn't change her name. We were simply did everything by our first names. Part of that was because we were getting stuff printed before she had decided if she wanted to change it or not (or at least before she was willing to 100% commit - took until the acquisition of the license for that moment in time) and partly because that's who we are. Last names are much less important for the folks who we invited to celebrate our wedding with us. They mostly know us by our first names anyways.

Well, so much for eating corn flakes while being chased by bears through a department store.

Morning, Box.

Probably better process technology - if salt were added to the milk, the processor would be required to put that on the ingredient statement. Also, just because of the expense involved, there's not a lot of milk concentration in the bottling industry - the razor-thin margins for bottlers don't justify the capital expense.

I'm not entirely up on the whole fluid milk business (I was a cheese guy), but here's my thoughts on why skim might taste different to you today:

1) Better diet for the herds
2) Breeding practices that encourage cows that produce a more concentrated milk
3) Better pasteurization technology that provides the required thermal treatment without degrading flavor components.

BTW, bdjohns1, I'm not sure if I've mentioned this but I REALLY enjoy hearing about things from the food-science perspective (particularly on a large scale). It's really fascinating. Just another example of why this is an extremely cool group of people. :D

Glad to hear, and glad to share the more interesting parts of my job. It's like I live in an episode of "Unwrapped", without Marc Summers providing the narration. :D

And, since I forgot...Good Morning, Box.

sbm12 Jun 1, 2010 7:35 am

Just booked more intra-Scotland flights. Was denied on my desired return flight but fortunate that it is because the flight in question doesn't open for booking until 1 week out and also no change fee if I can call it in later. :D

And we're going to overnight in Westray and see what life is like in the middle-of-nowhere Orkneys. Should be interesting. The place we're staying is room in a renovated barn.

mwg25 Jun 1, 2010 7:36 am

And thus begins the day of chauffeuring, all over the tri-state area. (And yes, that means that almost no grade comments can be written today.)

I certainly hope sister #2 is aware of how cushy she's got it...

Just be clear about it, and keep your name. I admit this is fairly common here in Brazil, so I don't think this is a problem. Most of the time, the bride simply adds her husband's surname to hers, but continues to use her name professionally. MrsC and I worked at the same company for several years and she used her own name all the time. We worked on different departments and most of our colleagues didn't even realized she was my wife. I had absolutely no problem with that.
