Well, I didn't die. Actually, the level was pretty good (and the instructor, who was at first NOT friendly when I told her I was a beginner, warmed up distinctly after the first 10 minutes when I was obviously not dying. She then asked "you really haven't done this before?")

However, it should not surprise anyone who knows me that I was indeed klutzy enough to give myself a massive knee scrape, as well as break one of the toe clips off of a pedal (and have to switch bikes halfway through). Let me remind you that this is an indoor, stationary cycling class. Ridiculous. :o

Oh, just keep rubbing it in! :p Ugh!

Because indoor cycling classes will put you through an intense workout, you need to outfit yourself with a few simple pieces of equipment to allow you to perform at your best:

Two towels: one to put across the handlebars to prevent slippage during the workout, and one to wipe away sweat

A water bottle or two: filled with water or electrolyte drink.

Stiff-soled athletic shoes cut low on the ankle: very flexible shoes may leave your feet feeling numb by the end of class, and high top shoes will impede your ability to spin the pedals correctly

Comfortable workout clothes: synthetic, sweat-wicking material, lightweight and breathable.

When setting the height of your seat, here is a good rule of thumb: when seated, feet resting lightly on the pedals, your knee should be slightly bent on the downstroke. If your knee is bent more than a 10-15 degree angle, you need to raise the seat; if your knee is straight, you need to lower the seat slightly.

One of the best tips for indoor cycling class: aim to drink about one ounce of liquid for each minute of cycling.

(What is out there about spin classes.....) Have fun!!!!

Thank you! You're so right about the towels - I brought one little one but will take a second from now on!

Have fun down here. I assume you don't need recommendations, but I'm happy to suggest a restaurant or two if you are interested.

I have to meet a friend on Monday night and neither of us are local - do you have any ideas near-ish to the Jenkintown/Willow Grove area?

I recycled alot of my high school English papers in college.

That wouldn't have worked on me - I don't think I had a single book or paper subject in all of college that was a repeat from HS. I would have liked to take more English lit courses (Dante was the only one I got to), but alas, there was too much Latin lit and music history to get through. :p

Oh, yes...happy upcoming Mother's Day to all mommies out there! Bye, bye

Hope you were well appreciated!!!!! I'm on the teacher's appreciation committee and we do something every month, but made this week extra special. Unfortunately, bl jr's teacher was out most of this week due to a death in the family so the week will get extended a bit into Monday:)

I have never had jetlag this bad before. :td:

It's hit me pretty hard too this time; maybe not the worst, but one of. I think sheer exhaustion may have played into it. Coming home to a sick kid was certainly not helpful in getting good sleep :(

Well, I've now consumed plenty of champers (one p or two??) and we are getting close to ZFV. I have no idea what hotel I'm staying at or where it is. That's not a problem, is it?

Gonna be with family all weekend long. Gonna be drunk all weekend long.

Just saw my fist 2 minute clip of Glee ever. Didn't suck. I'm now a bit worried about myself, but whatever.

I'm still at 19K and change. Will only be around 27somethingK at the end of May...almost all obtained at a fairly awful CPM and overwhelmingly in a variety of RJs/Dash 8s. I should hopefully be able to keep *G this year, but I don't think Platinum is going to happen unless that "reconnaissance" trip to BKK actually does happen in December and both legs take place in 2010.

Family: either it's fun to drink with them, or they drive you to drink. Which kind are these? :p
