Excellent! Let's plan on Monday (we'll be gone Sun until late so I'll be selfish); 7 ish works fine.

^ Will PM as the date gets closer.

Thanks to both baglady and ssullivan for the hotel recommendations.

Poops! Won't work. I'm only there 9am to 3pm. :( What is there to do in MEM on a short layover? Anything easy to get to from the airport?

I haven't been to MEM myself in about 25 years, but Google says that Graceland is 10 minutes from MEM. @:-)

Northern Wales or further south. If north try something around Chester. If in the South try Bristol or further inland Bath but you'll have to deal with the toll bridges for anything down there.

For a weekend in San Diego, should I bother checking out Tijuana for a few hours?

I went about a year ago only for a couple z-packs when the wife didn't have insurance and immediately left. Its a very poor and dirty town. I wouldn't waste my time going back and would rather go to a beach in SAN. If you do go be sure to bring your passport though. I forgot mine but they let me back in with a DL and a few questions.

G'morning, Box.

JetBlue did it again: all seats $10 tomorrow and Wednesday if you buy today. I'm trying to decide if I can get somewhere for the day...

I know it’s a filthy, poor place, but I was wondering if there was any redeeming value to visiting Tijuana. If it is really just unsafe and filthy, then I have no desire to visit. If we go, it would not be on our own in the rental car, we would take a tour bus down and back.

Thanks for the heads up on this.

I can't travel anywhere tomorrow. I am working Tues-Fri and I am going for a root canal today :(

It has been a while since I was there, but I don't recall anything at all useful there. Not worth the time spent at the border, among other things.

There is nothing of value in TJ unless you're catching a flight to somewhere else in Mexico. Baja has some nice areas but they are well south of TJ. Stay in SAN and go to any of the multitude of nice things there are to do there.

We just walked across. Its only about a 15 minute walk from the parking areas that charge $5-10/day or so.
