+1. Every so often I get scared that the quilt will block the laptop fan vents and overheat the thing to the point of setting the bed on fire.

My father fell into that category. Funny, I believe I first heard the term "foamer" in the 1980's. There were certain steam locomotives that were must see/travel for dad.

My father's father was such a person as well, and the mania also applied to all things Civil War. Consequently, those two things were entirely missing from my childhood. I wonder if it was of his own accord, due to the overkill, or if my mother threatened dire consequences for "turning out just like his parents"...

Hi Box.

Waiting for one last person to train, looks like I'm going to miss my 5:15 flight.

I'd blow it off, but the guy works in the CEO's office, so probably not a good idea, although he's over an hour late now.

Back in college, I graded programs for a CS course (intro programming for engineering non-CS majors, basically). The last term I graded, the department didn't hire enough people, so I ended up getting the entire class (400 or so) for the final assignment.

As I got through running automated test cases, I noticed that there were a lot of people getting the exact same answer, with the exact same (non-standard) formatting. They all had the same wrong format string in a fprintf() call.

I dug deeper, and found somewhere between 35-40 students had submitted substantially the same solution. In some cases, it was obvious, even to the point of two people handing in the same code from adjacent workstations in the same 5-minute window. Sometimes, the only differences were that the students did a global search/replace to change variable names. So, not only did they cheat, they didn't even cheat and get the right answers.

The professor wimped out - he just failed them for that one assignment.

As a graduate TA, I once failed a group of 14 students who didn't believe I read every essay. And I comment when students even change font size or type to reiterate I'm paying attention.

It's been 7 months since I had a credit inquiry - about time to explore a nice bonus ...
