My father fell into that category. Funny, I believe I first heard the term "foamer" in the 1980's. There were certain steam locomotives that were must see/travel for dad.

Hi Box.
Waiting for one last person to train, looks like I'm going to miss my 5:15 flight. I'd blow it off, but the guy works in the CEO's office, so probably not a good idea, although he's over an hour late now. |

As I got through running automated test cases, I noticed that there were a lot of people getting the exact same answer, with the exact same (non-standard) formatting. They all had the same wrong format string in a fprintf() call. I dug deeper, and found somewhere between 35-40 students had submitted substantially the same solution. In some cases, it was obvious, even to the point of two people handing in the same code from adjacent workstations in the same 5-minute window. Sometimes, the only differences were that the students did a global search/replace to change variable names. So, not only did they cheat, they didn't even cheat and get the right answers. The professor wimped out - he just failed them for that one assignment. |
