Good , box.

I hope some common sense breaks out amongst CO's board. I doubt it, but I can hope.

Commuter rail around Chicago is much more reasonably priced. $15 r/t can take you from downtown to friggin' Wisconsin. Part of that is that there's a mass-transit subsidy built into our local sales taxes. Of the 9.75% I'm currently paying, 1% goes directly to the regional transit authority (which covers commuter rail, bus services, and the L).

Getting to ORD by commuter rail is an exercise in pain though. All of the lines terminate in downtown (in 3 separate stations, separated by as much as 3/4 mile walking), so if you don't live on the one line that runs by ORD, you've got a walking/taxi connection. Then, 25 minutes back out to ORD, transfer to a bus to get on the people mover, and people mover to the terminals. As an added bonus, the line that services ORD has one of the lightest service schedules.

In other words, good luck with that. Mass transit to ORD is really only viable if you're coming from downtown.

Nope. Apparently DL is now keeping a bunch of them and going to replace the seats and repaint them.

The last NW 752 I flew was so nasty and smelled so bad inside that the smell permeated my clothing. When I arrived at our hotel in Seattle, where I was meeting my partner who was there for work, he immediately said "You stink. What's that odor on your clothes and hair?" I took off my shirt and smelled it and realized I smelled like that plane.

This what those nasty dirty birds were like when they were brand new oh so many years ago.

$16.25 EACH WAY. And parking is $5/day.

I know that the system costs a lot to keep running regularly and well, and I don't presume to know anything about NJ politics or the history thereof, but I would have thought that a public transit system should offer people some incentive to get OFF the roads, not force them back on them...

It is often cheaper to buy a ticket to the next station and the AirTrain pass in 2 transactions. NYP-EWR was $15. NYP-Elizabeth + AirTrain was $11. Similarly, on the return, EWR-NYP was $15 and EWR-NWK+on-board "step-up" fee was $11.

Not gonna happen. Sad, too, as I used to have some respect for some of the more  out there.

Sad, but it's what happens when people try to love a brick.

Tell them you are :-: Gold, to stop with the shenanigans, and just assign the seat. If you don't meet the "ideal German standard" for occupying the seat, it can be reassigned at the flughafen.

LH Phone Checkin came through and assigned me 83A. Was Not Possible to check me in for my connection in FRA, however.

Mackie, what's this all about:

Separating the awkwardly feminine from the possibly Canadian since 1981
Is this some beaver joke or something?

It was a joke that had been passed around on the Internet for a long time, and we were discussing it last night, so I decided to run with it. If it's not cool, I'll dispatch a change to it.

It's hilarious.

I keep forgetting you haven't met me (or teh Canuck) yet. We are possibly two of the most easy-going people in the world and are not offended by anything. Which is probably how we can tolerate each other. @:-)

Aye, and I appreciate that you found the humor (though your sense of humor is keen and I would've been surprised if you hadn't found it funny), but some people might find it  so I've changed it. While I believe that people who found that offensive are silly, at some point you have to pick your battles. I paraphrased my comments on loyalty to bricks instead; it is more apropos given the current forum climate.
