I'd like to see that, as well, but I suspect the bean-counters will compare fleet size, and relative cost of repainting aircraft.

They really either need to combine logos and branding in some way, or come up with something entirely new. Simply keeping the UA brand image as is the worst option.

This is my hope as well. A United meatball might be ok though.

Depends who's in charge of that department post-merger. If it's someone from UA, we may have an assortment of liveries for the next decade or so. :D

Who is worse about painting planes? DL or UA?

I'm betting UA at the moment, because DL has really been on the ball about getting everything painted lately. However, for most of the last 15 years, DL has been flying at least two, if not three or four, liveries at the same time. And that's not counting things like S:rolleyes:ng or Delta Express.

I wonder if I can hit 8,000 today.

Yeah, and it's looking increasingly likely that it is moving in fact. Bloomberg just felt confident enough to repeat the stock swap ratio reported earlier in the day.

My angst exists on several levels, not the least of which is that I turn 62 in Sept, and had decided to buy a lifetime PC membership at that time. Now, it may be a race to see if there still are PC's in Sept or not. But, given the dimensions of this, probably so.

BTW, of course, "pack of cigarettes," in my post that you quoted, is allegorical. Cigars and pipes, yeah. Toxic tubes of paper around the sot weed, not so much.

I'm wondering
Does CO give me anything if I'm traveling on my birthday :D.
I'm going to be staying at a Courtyard in AMA. Does Marriott do anything for their elites on their birthday? (You just never know to ask ;))

Mackieman Apr 30, 2010 10:01 am

I have a call at noon, but I'm not hungry yet. I suppose I could wait until afterward for lunch and then skip the 1PM meeting.

Depends on the property; some GMs are great, others not so much.

I've never been able to get that to work. "I'm sorry, Mr. Sullivan, but we cannot see your status from Continental."

Fine. I'll suck it up and suffer in 30" pitch on a 734 that hasn't seen an interior retrofit (other than to cram more seats in) since Reagan was in the White House.

I think they should keep a few retrojets, like US. Keep the current blue skyways CO 739ER as is, keep something in the current CO livery, current UA livery, and maybe bring back a heritage UA livery as well to compliment the blue skyways plane.

Or if they really want to get crazy with it, stick a few Texas International, People Express, New York Air, and original Frontier planes out there too.

My gut feeling is they'd go with something completely new.

They'll give you the same thing you got from them on you past birthdays.

Good afternoon Box.

.bomb in action. There's a UA option now to remove offers/ads from your BP when you print. Selected the option but the BPs still print with the ads .

I've been traveling on my birthday every year for the last five. I've received nothing from anyone other than a TSA agent who wished me a happy early birthday a few days early at IAH last Friday.

Mine too. I think a completely new image for the combined airline would be a good thing.
