So, this month isn't too bad I guess
But for next year, that is a different story!Congrats on reaching the 1MM threshold. Actually, UA's 1MM threshold is better than CO's IMO... Lifetime Premier Executive vs Lifetime Silver, so with that being said I cannot really imagine that they will change or devalue 1MM benefits that much from the CO side...

I am still a little confused with ZE and R, so apologies here. I know ZE is for Y/B/M-Ups and R is for pretty much everything else. So, before releasing R, CO will run EUA for ZE first to upgrade those on instant uprade fares?
With that logic, naturally I would assume that we will never see R inventory when ZE is zeroed out [but there can be as many ZEs and Rs, i.e. F5 ZE4 R4 and any upgrades will eat into both ZE and R, but never F5 ZE0 R4].
AS upgrades everything into U, hence my ignorance, so be patient with me
After a few roundtrips I should have a good understanding of how everything works

For those unfamiliar, "R" is the fare class that mileage upgrades & EUAs book into on CO non BF routes.
I've been able to snag a transcon upgrade using miles once in a while, but it's pretty rare. Typically, you've got to waitlist. Last week, I managed to get to #1 on the list with a mileage upgrade sfo-ewr.
So in my humble opinion, I'd rather have extra drink coupons than the regional upgrade if it books into R.
If however it worked like a y-up (or even b-up) at time of use, that would be a valuable benefit.

With these new CR1s, CO is going back to the late 1980s when you earned upgrade certificates every 5K or 10K miles depending on level. CO eventually simplified the process with EUA.
I guess CR1s are electronic counts in your account - so once the software is in place it is automatic (ie - no paper coupons).
But with all the new levels and now the CR1s plus the Y/B/M ups, upgrades are going to get harder to get. People on cheap fares will use their CR1s, those on more expensive codes will likely hope for EUA/UDU.

One way.
Assuming they can be used into norther South America, Central America or the Caribbean - which is quite possible - they'd be worth a bit more. And they aren't taking much away in exchange for them. Even if you only value them at 15K points each that would be $150ish. I think trading that for a couple $6 drinks is probably a bad investment decision.
Not gonna happen.

i read several pages of this thread but could not find the answer to my question.
Q is: Would 100k miles earned on CO Onepass this year receive SWU (system wide upgrade) certificates for next year? I have not received these in the past - I did reach 75k miles last year.
Thanks.

Given that if I get any RU's the only value is likely to be gifting upgrades to those without status on popular leisure routes (EWR-MIA).
Ok - drink coupons not much (depending on how many of course)... but I don't value these at 15k miles, either, and I suspect that many of us are going to see them go unused.

100K EQM in 2010 - earns 4 SWUs valid on any fare. Need restricted R class availability, valid from time the 4 SWUs post until 2/29/12.
100K EQM in 2011 - earns 6 SWUs on higher fare codes only. R class availability is still a requirement. These need to be used one year from date issued.

If you haven't already signed up for MP, take a look at pre-printed sign up forms (might be able to find some at your local airport). They already have a number pre-assigned, so you might be able to find something that's easy to remember. Or of course you might get lucky with the internet sign up.

I.E. Release R space along with ZE space in advance, then at around 7 days out zero out R space to preserve ZE and F space for elites in Y/B/M and paid F customers.

My experience with CO has been that R class (except for some key markets) is generally available for domestic flights several months in advance. But when EUA time arrives R will many times go away.
