I am going to try my luck on this thread
I recently graduated from a small liberal arts college on the West coast with a BA in Economics and graduating with honors on my senior comprehensives. For matters of the heart I moved to Raleigh, NC and am currently looking for work. I have experience in the hospitality and land development industry. Ideally, I would like to go into construction/project management or event/meeting planning with an international firm.
I have tried my luck at a few staffing firms, but they seem to be interested in filling the positions as quickly as possible and not really looking for the best candidate. For the time being I am looking for anything that would be medium-term in length (3-5 years), has people interaction and would really like to avoid call center work.
Any hints and help would be greatly appreciated!
P.S. The career counsleor at my college has suggested the Enterprise Management Training Program as a good step. Does anyone have any experience with this program or know anything about it?

Okay, I'll give it try.
I graduated from a public So Cal university (ranking in the top 25 national public colleges) close to seven years ago majoring in Japanese language.
Upon graduation, I landed a job at a multi-billion dollar Japanese food manufacturer based out of the Southern California region as a production coordinator. Within the next several years, I have succeeded in reducing production costs while being an integral team in setting up a new manufacturing facility in Mexico (those two years of Spanish back in high school helped a bit too!).
However, what I really want to do is try my luck in Sales and/or Marketing utilizing my Japanese language skills as I have a profound knowledge in International Business, especially those with the Asian market. However, the usual catch-22 phrase of "need career change, need experience, hence no experience, therefore no career change" takes its toll upon me.
Other experience: Aside from my day-job, I also am semi-self employed in translations. I tend to the needs of the Japanese entertainment industry (music, games, anime, etc...) on my spare time. Henceforth, this is also another option that I am willing to consider should anyone have an offer in this area.
If anyone is interested, please PM me and I will send you my resume.

I'm in the same boat... I'm very comfortable at my dead end job so I'm not eager to look for work, but at the same time I don't want to start at the bottom of the food chain in another industry.
Who knows, one day I just may take the plunge.
I was thinking of exploring sales too.

Gadling.com is looking for a new blogger!
Hi FT'ers -- Gadling.com is looking for a new blogger!
We need someone who knows the airline industry inside and out -- someone who flies regularly, keeps themselves informed of the happenings of airlines both domestically and worldwide, and is comfortable expressing their well-formed opinion to our readers. Did Southwest detain another questionably-clothed passenger? Did another South American plane overshoot the runway? We want someone who keeps up with the latest news, oddities, and everything else under the airline industry umbrella, and can report back to our readers quickly. A good example of coverable stories can be found in the FlyerTalk Newsstand forum -- that's the type of news we're looking to have coverage on. Prospective bloggers should be willing to write anywhere between 7 and 15 article per week (each which ranges anywhere from 150-400 words). This is a paid, freelance position.
Please send an email to justinglow at gmail dot com with the following information:
1. Your full name.
2. Tell us what your experiences are in the airline industry. Do you work for Delta? Do you just fly a lot? Tell us why you're the one for this position.
3. Have you ever blogged before? Do you currently write for/keep a blog?
4. Write three original (as in never-before-published) blog posts that cover breaking airline industry news. Blog posts should be well-written in the style commonly used by Gadling bloggers: casual in tone, with a healthy dose of humor when applicable.
5. Do not include any attachments. All information should be in the body of an email -- including the sample posts.
Any other questions can be directed towards the same email address. Thanks!

We are looking for a part-time manager for an online radio station. Our station is dedicated to playing non-commercial music from a variety of genres. The station is 100% virtual and the job can be performed from anywhere in the world. Tasks would include: recruiting DJs, music reviewers, web designers, graphic designers, coordinating schedules, finding advertisers, and being the point of contact for the whole operation. You do not necessarily have to have experience managing a project like this, but you do need to have what we consider to be good musical taste. Salary is entirely based on performance, and a part ownership of the station will be offered to the right candidate. The job would likely require anywhere between 10-40 hours a week of your time. Please PM me if you are interested in more details...
p.s. in your message make sure to include a list of some of your favorite artists and songs.

Office Manager: Akron, OH.
Hi guys,
my company (I'm new there) is looking for someone to manage an office they want to open in Akron, OH. Among the best in the sector, the company produces rolled rings, open die and close die forgings for several industries, from Oil&Gas, to Wind energy and Automotive.
They are looking for someone with these requirements:
Education: possibly Engineering with knowledge in metallurgy
Location: Akron area or availability for a change of residence to Akron.
Experience: 2-3 years at least in a business regarding metal working; better if the candidate has knowledge in the close die forging process (both technical and sales).
An experience in the purchasing or technical department of a potential client in the area of forged products is a plus.
Position: the candidate should be able to start up the office, manage the office himself, delevop the sales for close die forging parts getting in contact with already known and new potential customers, manage the order cycle including the delivery of goods from the Italian plant, manage non-conformity and quality problems only with a telephone contact with the italian quality office;
Skills: Good management skills, good sales attitude; good technical knowledge of the close die forging process and products is a plus.
The Italian language skill could be an advantage for comunication with the italian offices but it is not a must given that the majority of the italian colleagues speaks quite a good english.
Contract: Employee of the Italian parent company or employee of the US controlled company or similar, excluding an agency contract.
Please PM me if you think your resume is conforming to our requirements.
Thanks,
MACH81
