Ironic isn't it?

Description:
CBS is expanding its coverage of the environment. We seek a talented reporter/host for Internet video broadcast. We are looking for smart, creative, hard working up and comers, who can bring great energy, creativity and a dash of humor to our coverage. A deep interest in the environment and sustainability issues will serve you well.

You are wicked smart, funny, irreverent and hip, oozing enthusiasm and creative energy. This position requires strong people, reporting, story telling and writing skills. Managing tight deadlines should be second nature. Knowledge of the enviro beat is a big plus, but not a requirement.
. . .
I'm guessing the ironic part you're referring to it that portion highlighted in bold above?

Looking to transition from broadcast journalism to PR or marketing in Chicago. I'm currently a news producer/writer. I started right out of school in TV and quickly moved up the ranks.

Seeking a job that's going to challenge me, where I'm going to learn and be held accountable for my work.

It's time to live a more sustainable lifestyle, i.e. no overnights, holidays and weekends on a regular basis.

Hi all! I'm with others in this thread who have essentially said - it can't hurt to post!

I received a surprise RIF from my current job on Friday. I'm rapidly moving into high-gear job search (knowing that a lot probably won't happen until the holidays.)

My background is hospitality training, learning, quality, HR and operations. I've been at a Director level for many years and my perfect job is leading the training and/or quality functions for a substantial hospitality organization that truly believes in the customer experience. I'm strong in all phases of ADDIE and all types of learning solutions, from traditional to blended to online.

Resume available via PM.

Good luck to all and Happy Holidays everyone!

Post Smart? Analytical? Love airplanes?

Hey all. My company, The Seabury Group, is looking for people at various levels (Analyst, Senior Analyst, Associate, Senior Associate) to join a rapidly-growing boutique consulting firm focusing primarily on airline strategy development and major operational turnarounds. While Seabury Consulting is based in New York, projects are around the world, with opportunities for significant travel and living overseas.

Analyst positions require:
  • Bachelor's degree with an exceptional academic record
  • Track record of achievement in extracurricular and professional endeavors
  • Exceptional analytical, quantitative and conceptual skills, preferably including Excel modeling ability
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivation and initiative to work independently, as well as part of a team
  • Ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines while still delivering a flawless product

More senior positions also require experience at a leading management consulting firm (e.g. Bain, McKinsey, Mercer, etc.), relevant work experience (consulting, investment banking, venture capital, or aviation-specific) with a top-tier company and an MBA degree, or significant experience in the airline industry with proven ability to perform rigorous, structured analysis to drive to business decisions and implement recommendations.

Projects vary significantly, from business strategy and business plan development, identification and implementation of restructuring initiatives, cost transformation (an area of significant expertise) and supply chain optimization to contract renegotiation. Our clients are key players in the US and global aviation industry.

We're a close knit team committed to having fun while delivering high impact results for our clients. Seabury consultants have a blend of airline industry and top-tier strategy consulting experience, and nearly all have a passion for aviation. Compensation is highly competitive with leading strategy consulting firms, and additional perqs include an annual offsite for employees and partners (Hawaii, Fiji, and the Hunter Valley area of Australia were offsites the last three years), funding for a pilot's license once you've been with the firm for three years, and a good travel policy.

If you're interested, PM me or email me at [email protected].

More information is available on our website.

Regards,
Merrick Brown

Since I love FT and Traveling, I wanted to post this here.

I just graduated from San Diego State University with a degree (B.S.) in Finance. I've worked in a specialty luxury goods industry for the past six years and have extensive experience in customer service and relations. I have acquired extensive product knowledge and excellent communications skills by focusing on providing and meeting customer needs and expectations.

I've the MS Office suite of programs and have specifically used MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook in my studies and work environment.

To date I've been responsible for purchasing, inventory management, customer service, e-commerce, mail order sales, advertising, capital budgeting and product evaluation for various businesses in the San Diego area.

I've worked for small businesses as well as large corporations and am equally comfortable in each environment. My experience in management involves making purchasing decisions, product evaluations, cash handling, and managing work-groups to effectively meet customer needs as well as optimizing sales opportunities.

I earned a Private Pilot's License from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona. I also hold dual citizenship with an EU country and have an EU Passport. I've traveled around Europe and am conversational in French and comfortable in unfamiliar environments.

I have a resume and references available upon request. I'm willing to travel all over the world and am willing to relocate from the San Diego area.

Thank you for your consideration, please PM me with any additional requests for information.

I just recently got out of the military and worked in the logistics field. I am currently unemployed since I have gotten out and am looking into getting a job where I can travel. Are there any pointers that you all could give me? Being that I worked in the logistics/planning field, are there jobs out there that would fit the criteria of my specific training where I can travel? I have no clue as to where to begin when it comes to this and have no luck searching the internet,"so far". I really want to travel and work at the same time but do not know where to begin. Please, all inputs are GREATLY APPRECIATED!!

Thanks in advance,
Jason Turner

I WANT to hire a FT'er for a (small) Web project!

Since my original website expired (fror mr. s and my musical and theatre gigs) I have not had one for some time. Now I'd like to develop a couple of sites - one for my artistic pursuits, and one for my (newish) business plan. I'd like to hire a true web professional - obviously $$ is limited since i am unemployed - but I haven't worked with designers outside of friends who have helped for free - so hopefully I can find a web designer who can create a couple of simple sites for a reasonable price.

What's reasonable - I'm interested in hearing the range of prices for different services so shoot me a PM or email.

Thanks

Below is the small details I/she has, but if you're interested send me a PM w/ your info, I'll get it to her & she'll get it to the person who's actually in charge of the project.

"The park is looking for an Access/SQL Programmer for our computerized backcountry permit system. Do you know any programming geeks in the PNW who might be interested in this project?"

Cheers.

Safety consultant/Risk Manager, 50%+ travel

A friend's husband is looking to hire a safety trainer. He's looking for someone who has experience in risk management, safety consulting, insurance underwriting or the like. This person must be willing to travel >50% of the time. The job pays well. (taken from an email from his wife).

Requirements:
BS/BA, preferrably in safety science. Any amount of experience in the insurance industry, safety, risk management, commercial vehicle industry (including bus drivers) is a plus. The person that is hired will have a significant amount of on-the-job training before being let loose to see customers. This training includes conferences. There is much travelling and this person will very likely be able to pick a region or specific locations that she or he would prefer to travel. One of the employees does almost all the northeast and he prefers to drive, so he drives to these places. Other employees, on the otherhand, fly almost everywhere.

Here is a list of some of the places they visit every year: Alaska, California (San Fran, Napa, Medesto, others), New Jersey, Key West, Canada (multiple clients in multiple cities, conferences), Denver, NJ, PA, NJ, Oklahoma City, Wisconsin, Oregan, Nashville, Austin, TX, Savannah and the list goes on. There is also possible overseas (specifically the UK) travel in the near future as the company gets contracts.

If you're interested, send me a PM, and I'll put you in touch with him.
