However, later the same day I also requested the credit by Secure Message (for "baggage fees) and it was approved. Very YMMV now but still doable. 2/10/2017
Southwest Airlines GCs work fairly easily. I've generally bought them for $150 and said they're excess baggage fees.

Quick question I don't seem to find the answer to on searching. Charges for myself say to upgrade to first class(already done many times with my card) are refundable if my wife got the card and I used hers for this charge, correct? I don't think I've tried this at this point with mine for any charges other than for me. Doesn't seem they look at these specifics but.......
Really thinking of the card for my wife as well, higher annual but with three free nights, the additional airline credit, way more than pays for itself it seems, especially at this point with $600 in airline credits available before next annual. Planning to go to Maui, could use at Kapalua location potentially...or other locations in LA.

so I am thinking about applying for this card, and using the 3 free nights at the ritz in new orleans for mardi gras. Are there blackout dates for the certificates or can i use them anytime and anywhere as long as its a category 1-4?

Sample search on Marriott for Sunday 2/26 - Wednesday 3/1 shows that it's available.

I've noticed also some hotels make it easier than others. For example Marina Del Rey Ritz had the basic room available but you could pay to get a better room. And it didn't seem unreasonable to do so. San Fran, you got two options, low floor Superior or high floor Deluxe(smaller). Pretty difficult to use overall I've found at popular properties, Laguna Niguel was impossible.....Plan well in advance.

thanks for the help. I just went ahead and booked a flight package from expedia. It was insanely cheap, so it was a deal I couldnt refuse. Thanks for looking that up for me though.

It seems some folks have had luck in getting award booking fee and taxes getting refunded. If I end up canceling the award tix, will that be clawed back by Chase?
Also, I haven't seen any recent reports of successful AA e-GCs. Have they started getting Level 3 data on purchases?

AFAIK, ALL RC VS cards, no matter their current credit limit, will chronologically be upgraded to VI.

i haven't read downstream, but wondering if there are any recent travel rebate data points since the Infinite refresh?
has it become anymore liberal, like the CSR Infinite product?

If you use the travel discount, does it affect your complimentary or certificate upgrades with the airline, and specifically AA? Can anyone confirm?

I've booked tickets through the ultimate rewards portal and still gotten the miles and upgrade. As well as AmEx travel. So I don't think it will be a problem.

Right, but if I just wait for the background process to run its course, I might not get the VI signup bonus (3 free nights instead of 2). I have to convince the marketing department to credit me before the promotion runs out.

you can get matched even if you are still VS. I SM and got matched, and already made the reservation using three certificates

I've VS with an AU. I requested lounge card (I made sure not to mention PP) for my AU and I was send PP Select for AU. So yeah, even if they can't upgrade you to VI yet, they will match the offer and will also give you and your AU PPs.
