//If I choose to keep my economy MAD - MNL, cancel the MNL - MAD, and issue the MNL - CDG pe, what fees will I be facing? $120 cancellation fee + additional 12000 AM?

28k Miles + $120 I would've thought cos 48+40-60

Every flight has W9 so it's up to you whether to risk it or not

No. Unless you're Diamond, calling more will absolutely not affect your chances. These will be more effective https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/cath...l#post24842928

Waitlisting for long while

Waitlisting for
1/4 CX566, CX594, CX568, CX502
9/4 CX507, CX569

for a long long while.:confused:Could anyone do a favour for me to check the status?

Do CX release the tickets in a systematic way or just by random?:confused:

Thank you percy! Would you say the chance is slim (for Y ticket redemption), especially on 634? Please forgive my ignorance in interpreting the figures.

percysmith Jan 18, 2017 9:40 pm

Maybe some chance on the KA691 but not the KA634, no matter Business or Economy.

I see. I'd better delay my trip for a day for better chances. Thanks a lot.

I am looking into getting an award from SFO to SYD via HKG.
The flight from SFO arrives around 7 PM.
There are 2 connections - one around 9 PM and another one around 11PM.
The latter seems available most of the time but not the earlier one.
If I get the award for the later connection, can I wait-list for the earlier one just in case it may open?
If so, how do I do that - online or with an agent?
TIA

CX161's the hardest to get cos it's the most family friendly.

You can ticket CX101 and waitlist CX161, and reissue for 4,000AM/US$40 if it clears. Add the waitlist by phone, you will be allowed to waitlist right up to departure.

That is what I will do.

I waitlist by phone all the time, and my waitlist always expires four days (or longer if falls on a weekend) before departure. Occasionally it did show I was still waitlisting on my account after the deadline, but that never cleared.

If Paulchilli has been ticketed and is merely trying to rebook a segment i.e. same origin and destination, same class of service, no deadline should be set. Just did it with my mother trying to get on CX162/CX100 when confirmed on CX110 earlier this month.

(Contrast: me trying to get from ticketed Premium Economy to Business for Easter: 4 day waitlist still set)

A bit of an update... got cleared with KA691 on 29 Jan, but still waitlisting for the return flight KA692 on 1 Feb...
Given the issue deadline for the outbound is tonight, seems I can go nowhere...

call them and ask for an extension of the deadline. the "deadline" is so darn annoying, and it makes much of the waitlist benefit moot....fight them on it

Thanks for your advice! Finally reached MPC after a few calls and had the deadline extended.

May I ask for experts here to check on the chances of clearing waitlist please? KA692 on 1 Feb. Thank you!

I thought 4 days before departure was the hard deadline for any unticketed booking...?

I thought so too, but perhaps discretion can be given when there is an one-way confirmed journey? Or is this a good sign for clearing the return leg?

Final update: The waitlist to PEN didn't clear at last, but as an alternative, I waitlisted KUL and was cleared last minute.

To my surprise, I got upgraded from Y to J on a 77W on my return leg. Never thought of such a "big jump".

much appreciated! forgot to say that i'm actually using miles to redeem the ticket, so does that mean i have a decent chance getting it? thanks!

I will add F is wide open that day as is PEY. Y is getting "tight", which would serve to help you score the upgrade..provided it doesn't get oversold by too much. Obviously still a few months away and things can change, but if I were betting I'd say your chances are nearly as good as they could be at this point. Certainly above 50pct.

Oh yes, should have taken F and PEY into consideration :p

Hi everyone I'm new here, I have been waitlisting since November for the following award flight, could someone kindly check the J seats status for me?

4 March 2017 CX254 LHR-HKG

Also, if one of my friends were to separately waitlist for the same flight (also on J class), what are the chances we would both get our awards?

Many thanks!

Unfortunately, doesn't look good in clearing waitlist for J...

kkt228 Feb 8, 2017 1:48 am

Hi everyone,

Sorry but can anyone please check the J seats status for me as I am waitlisting for the following award flight below?

- 3rd July 2017: CX549 (HND - HKG)

I would be really appreciated if you could do that for me so that I can know the chances of getting an award ticket for this sector.

Thanks heaps!

Sorry for the ignorance, but what do C, D and I mean? I thought J9 meant there are 9+ seats in J that may be released for awards? Thanks so much!

C, D, and I are subclasses of business class. I believe (and more experienced FTers can verify) that awards typically come out of those buckets, rather than from the full-price J bucket. So, the lack of C/D/I availability means that it isn't likely that a waitlist will clear.

C, D and I are discounted business, if they are sold out, that could imply the biz cabin is very full and the chance for award is slim.
