Thanks, cxfan1960!

Another question if you don't mind- I'm currently confirmed for MAD-HKG-MNL in Y but my PEY waitlist were cleared for all legs. Will the reissue fee be for each leg (so $200 or 20,000 AM) or for the entire booking (so just $100/10k AM)? Will I also be facing cancellation fees (of the original Y booking)? Or is it just the difference in miles + reissue fee/miles deduction?

Can I have this ticketed already or should I wait if ever the HKG-MAD outbound clears? Thanks, again!

I am currently on the waitlist for CX252/23JUL for J-class. I need to be back in HKG for 24 JUL morning and am wondering which EU ports may be easier to clear, and when should i reasonably expect the waitlist to clear? Thanks

percysmith Mar 31, 2017 12:00 am

BA139/CX660 (transit port BOM) immediately available. I don't know whether Monday 09:35 is early enough for you though.

On the day before there's a similar pair transit DEL. Seems like subcontinent's easiest.

still too early to tell, but right now I'd be heartened by what I see, particularly with CX826. So far this is what you'd want to see. Y class wide open, PEY pretty open, J class pretty open.

I'm waitlisted for business on the following CX itineraries. From everything I've read it seems like there's a decent chance of clearing; would appreciate any perspective from those more experienced:

17 April:

What about the theory that "I" class availability is a prerequisite for award J to clear?

That is not really a prerequisite. CX may release redemption to a DM even with I0. I fare also varies with POS. A round trip I fare PEK-HKG-SFO-HKG-PEK often costs less than a W fare SFO-HKG-PEK-HKG-SFO. So while the assumption that CX may not release J (U) awards without I availability is often true, it is not always the case.

Herman Lam Apr 3, 2017 8:59 pm

Hi Can anyone help with looking at the availability for CX270 AMS-HKG on 23JUL? I am currently on wait list for J class and would like to know the chances...

Anyone able help to check the J award possibility for CX806 HKG-ORD on 27 April? I am currently on waitlist and also have an issued PEY award ticket. Waiting the J award to be released so I can upfare using miles (I understand I need to pay 10K more for cancelling the PEY tickets). Thanks a lot!

So today I got a notification that my waitlist has cleared! Unfortunately, only one out of two has cleared- which is quite weird because my mom, the other passenger whose seat isn't confirmed yet, is the one who is a MPC member (joined months after putting ourselves in the waitlist, so I don't know if that still has an effect on it), plus I am only her redemption group nominee. Hoping we still get to sit in the same cabin, otherwise, is it possible for us to switch?

Some help & advice needed:

I booked two return premium economy redemption tickets for travel from HKG to MLE for travel 24 May / 31 May, and now wish to upgrade to business with points. I called MPC and was told that it's possible for USD100 per ticket to rebook + 26k miles. However currently there are no redemption seats available for the return leg. I also saw on their website that waitlist are available for the return date. Is it worth while being placed on waitlist? The call centre also mentioned that I will be charged rebook fee twice, first the outbound leg change to business and a second time if I get the return leg upgrade. Is this right?

Seems an it odd that Cathay is not willing to take my money and points...

Try CX343 to LGW.

Would appreciate advice on what to expect please.
About ten months ago we booked QF award flights in J on CX for departure in eight weeks.
However CX cancelled our first leg Per-HKG and replaced with an earlier flight the previous day which left us with a long transit time for our connecting flight to YVR.
We have not clicked accept on the change as yet because QF have requested our connecting flight be brought forward to lessen the transit time caused by the cancellation.
I see it says 'waitlist' on the CX booking for the new flight time, what are our chances (QF said there are J seats avail) and how long does it take to hear?
I understand we would be considered least favourable due to QF award redemption but it would make our journey so much easier to have the lesser transit time.

Thanks... :)

Despite J9 they still put me on waitlist when I call... but cleared it after 6 hours....

p.s. I only saw 3 D seats and 2 G seats left in J seat map... Pre-allocation was a D seat... Happy that saw one and only one window seat left at the time I check my booking and immediately grabbed it...

p.p.s. W3 probably because I have a confirmed W seat but with no seat allocation as the remaining seats are 3 E seats and 1 F seat...

If there's still 8 weeks to go it's likely that CX would want to wait and see how that two flights' loading would be and then consider to accept your waitlist or not...

Which flight are you waiting for and which flight are you in?

Well, I guess they figured if they didn't clear your waitlist, they might have to clear someone else or op-up you anyway.

If not in need to confirm the ticket then just let it be till ticketing deadline then.....

And ask if QF help you to push the change...

Then should I cancel my redemption and wait for op-up? :p

But I guess I won't do so...

1. Still need to redeem the return trip upgrade once I confirm my return day (from YYZ... Checked upgrade redemption is wide open so will redeem for sure and don't think YYZ will give me op-up from W to J...)

2. If I stay in W that means I have to sit right next to my client in that 16 hours given the limited seats left in W cabin.............

Haha, I waited for op-ups so many times that didn't happen. Anyone doing mileage upgrades would get ahead of me. Now I either use miles to upgrade or buy J upfront these days.

By the way, I hope your client won't feel bad that you left him (or her) in PEY :D

Then I better ticket the U seats  Thanks

p.s. They were fine last year when I was in Y with them (in Y and PEY and J respectively)... Basically as if we were all flying individually.... :p

Can someone please check the loading of CX 823 and CX 829 (YYZ-HKG) on August 15 for J? I booked on February 6 for CX 823 on August 15 and CX 826 on August 20 where I got waitlisted for CX 823 and got confirmed for CX 826. I'm hoping I get cleared soon as I'd have to buy a non-CX revenue ticket on J otherwise. I am MPC member, but non-status. Called AsiaMiles today, but they weren't helpful. How long do you think I should wait till giving up on it and buying a revenue ticket? Any advice on how often to call asia miles (and how to convince them) would also be greatly apprecited. Thanks in advance!

Should clarify:

21/11 - flight was on J8 (I think) - cleared T-6
10/3 (I forgot the loading but it was J4) - cleared 55 hours and 67 hours before departure.

Needs to be ticketed by May20, Flight is late July?

No

On 20 May if the second flight is still unconfirmed you need to ticket the first flight first at one-way rate. When the second flight is confirmed you can ticket the second flight at one-way rate and apply for a refund the miles difference between two one-way and one round-trip

My itin is PER-HKG // HKG - LHR

PER-HKG is confirmed. HKG - LHR i have waitlisted in both J n F.

Currently 2F seats have opened on Priority 1 seats.

How does this Standard / Priority seats work? Im assuming if no one takes P1 soon itll be opened up to the standard waitlist?

No one knows. They can sell it or reserve it for op-up if J is selling well... So... Good luck :)

BTW companion award has priority over upgrade / direct redemption so if someone is waitlisting a companion seat in F the seat will go to him/her
