Not surprising. CNY 2018, with BKK>SIN in terms of demand, only HKK-BKK available was HKG-SIN-BKK

Gold is "front of the queue for waitlist" - what MPO claims is true . But no seats are fed into the queue before (especially for public holidays like 22/5) the T-4 deadline expires and then let it be a free for all (so you compete with people with BA miles, AA miles, AS miles, CA Pheonixmiles and others)). Your need to plan your holiday is no concern of CX. They already have your miles. In fact, they'd hope you'd start looking at AM first, get desperate, and then go buy CX tickets for $$$ without checking out competitors or leaving things too late. To beat their redemption ticket racket you need to be as flexible as YVR uncle in post #631 above (it's a commute for him, he's self employed and has houses on both ends). But CX is racking up the constipation level so high these days that even he's getting beaten by CX. |
Gold is of priority within the framework of CX generally releasing seats, but the ability to 'poach' a seat for sale into award inventory is a DM (unpublished) benefit only.

Hi all,
I'm new to Asia Miles as I've been previously been using AAdvantage miles to fly CX get to China. Now I plan to use Asia Miles. I've searched around but haven't been able to get a direct answer to my inquires for award wait listing using Asia Miles. I'm planning a trip to Xiamen from SFO in November for my son and I. I see award availability for 11/13, but ideally I'd like to go on 11/10,11, or 12. Questions... Can I book and confirm the 11/13 seats and still wait-list my three preferred days? Each day there are two to three flights from SFO, can I waitlist multiple days and multiple flights? I was told by Asia Miles customer service that only one waitlist was possible. This didn't sound right to me. Assuming this is all possible, I would have to rebook by calling AsiaMiles and paying $40 per flight sector, $40 fee x 2 passengers x 2 segments per passenger = $160, is this correct? Any additional guidance is much appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help... |

Yes Each day there are two to three flights from SFO, can I waitlist multiple days and multiple flights? I was told by Asia Miles customer service that only one waitlist was possible. This didn't sound right to me. At most 3 flights in total per leg (so 3 SFO-HKG, 3 HKG-XMN) Assuming this is all possible, I would have to rebook by calling AsiaMiles and paying $40 per flight sector, $40 fee x 2 passengers x 2 segments per passenger = $160, is this correct? It will depend on how much luck you have - if you can make all your desired changes at once then you wouldn't have to multiply Any additional guidance is much appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help... |

Will multiply - unless you can US$100 reissue in lieu |
Hi, I am a newbie here
I am waitlisting on these flights for my sister. What is my chance of clearing 1 biz class ticket? I am MPC SL if it helps. First two flights - none - you see y selling out. They'll cannibalise j seats to sell y
last - maybe j will be made available close in. But in close in they really may mean 6 hours |

When did they change the max waitlist per flight to 3? I remember that I would be able to waitlist the same for for the entire week at once
and for am and gr, agents frequently only allow one waitlist/sector these days. |

On the same segment?
So e.g. you waitlisted Mon/Tue/Wed/Thu/Fri/Sat/Sun on HKG-NRT (even if different flight numbers)? I didn't know that was possible. Are you still a GR? |

Wow. Even a DM/GO cant do that.
|
Wait, would that have been two PNRs or more? Then that sounds plausible

Why not create ten single one-way waitlists? |
Yeah all separate PNRs and all one way flights
To clarify, what I meant about the same PNR was when "upfaring" or changing the booking class of an award ticket; the booking reference as well as e-ticket number remained the same when they reissued the ticket However, when I saw the seat open up, I didn't use the waitlist, but rather, I just called in to have them change the existing booking to what I wanted |
My wait-list cleared overnight...flight is in 5 days in F for those wondering. It was F4 until I cleared

LAX-HKG
|
can anyone help to advise the chance that I can clear my waitlist.
May 7 CX596 HKG/KIX Business Class U 3 tickets May 7 CX506 HKG/KIX Business Class U 3 tickets Thanks |
Seat map looks good with 12 and 20 empty seats respectively.
|
Thanks
But still 1.5months to go, don't think CX will clear me until early May. But my inbound ticket was confirmed and need to ticket before 20 April. |
Good that you have the right expectations. See if the inbound deadline can be pushed further.

Then you may be unable to join outbound and inbound flights
Why not create ten single one-way waitlists? I've wait listed business class SFO-HKG-XMN three different flight combinations for four consecutive days starting 11/09 for two passengers. The system allowed this. The first availability is 11/20. Question, would it be better to book the first available on 11/20 and change the ticket if and when the wait list clears or book SFO-LAX-HKG-XMN, LAX-HKG-XMN shows open on a desired date, and change the ticket if wait list clears xSFO. Pros and cons of each, including fees needed? Thanks, appreciate the help in advance. |
One way redemption? What about inbound?
|
Yes one way only...
|
Couldn't find this question asked before... I'm a OWE with a paid biz booking looking to upgrade using my AM points. I'm currently waitlisted on 2 segments, do I keep my AM number (lowly green) in the PNR or swap it out for the OWE #? In other words is there any priority for OWE over MP Green? Thanks in advance for any insight offered. Currently both segments are listed as F5 (three weeks out); so I'm feeling slightly optimistic .

SFO-HKG-SFO First upgarde
I waitlisted on 873/30MAR and 872/07APR for First class upgrade. It says I need to contact MPC by Mar 26 to issue the upgrades. If the upgrade is not cleared by then, can I continue to waitlist till just before the flight? What is the time frame MPC usually clear upgrades? I am just a lowly Silver. Also does booking class affect the upgrade chances?

What days of the week are upgrades most likely to clear (LAX-HKG and vice versa)? (F waitlist specifically)
I know Xmas holidays are going to be tough - does flying on Xmas day help? When does the Xmas/NYE holiday crush start/stop? Is the window as wide as 12/15 to 1/15? Thanks in advance! |

One key variable is when the weekdays fall. If New Year's Day is on a Sunday, works restarts quickly and people rush back. Versus if New Year's day is on a Wed or Thurs, folks will often take the next day or two off, meaning the rush could last up to the 7th. IME it never, ever goes beyond the 6th (departure) / 7th. Usually fine by 3rd or 4th. People gotta work. |
Helpful,thanks!
What about by dayof the week outside the holidays? |
