Club Europe Catering Guide 2017.
This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering, introduced on Sunday 26 March 2017 and due to end on Tuesday 11 September 2018, based on 3 zones. A new Club Europe catering product is due to be launch on Wednesday 12 September 2018, and this is based on 4 bands. The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that there was an increase in food offered on some combinations shortly after the start-up, so the more recent photos may be the best place to start. The previous shorthaul catering guide, now locked but which had the previous 4 band system, is to be found here.
Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the pre-ordered versions - which are VLML (Lacto-ovo), AVML (Asia) and VGML (Vegan) . There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, LCY+STN. Last update: 833
-------------------------
Note posts before 1-832 are typically the April 2017 menu. 833 and above is from the menu for May 2017.

We did LHR-TXL yesterday on the afternoon rotation.
There were two options for the regular meal (don't remember what) and I went with the cold cuts. They were quite good although I would have preferred a fresh bun rather than the pre-packaged bread:
My gf got the low-lactose SPML:
The presentation was nice and I'll definitely order that in the future. It seems to double as the diabetic meal based on previous posts and was vegetarian as well.

That bread is one of the densest things I’ve ever eaten. It’s certainly filling, if nothing else.

Interesting to see the ploughman's afternoon tea re-posted after a year. I had that meal today and see that the grapes and the stick thing (is it a spring onion?) have been enhanced away since April 2017. Different cake today - quite a nice almond sponge. The bread remains extremely dense but tasty.

Probably not vegan as you got a proper pudding (rather than a fruit plate) and butter - but then again, nothing surprises me about BA's special meal catering anymore!
I had the same plate (albeit with cheesecake instead of the rice pudding tart thing) as the lacto-ovo vegetarian option on BLQ-LHR on Saturday, so it looks like this is becoming the special meal of the moment. No complaints from me on that front, I thoroughly enjoyed it!

I’m curious if there’s been a change of catering policy on offer on the Manchester-Heathrow route. I’ve been travelling this extensively since CE was introduced last year.
The breakfast is the same, fruits, Bacon roll, yogurt pot, hot bread, but the evening menu has definately been downgraded, especially the past month. The hot choice/wrap went out the window even before Xmas as I recall, and it was then a choice of two cold salads, Prawn or Chicken. Then early this year I noticed the choice went out the window, and then it was either Chicken or Prawn which seemed to be on a rotation.I keep mentioning to the CSMs the last week or 2 that I’ve not seen the Prawn for at least 3-4 weeks. In fact it appears to a running joke now when they dish out the food, “You have a choice of chicken.....” - last night I mentioned it again and was met with the remark, “Yeah come to think of it, may be they got a job lot of chicken......”Lol.

When the hot choice went last year (I think it was October) there wasn't any choice going forward as I recall. Since October it has been whatever salad they had or nothing. Same for LBA. Some of the special meals seems to look interesting so I may try one of those and see what happens.

Funny, I had chicken today as well on FRA-LHR.
But I had a big choice this time, as could also of had a tomato and mozzarella panini or a vegetarian platter.
Maybe the choice was because the flight was on a 767?

Yes you do get a choice on all short haul and domestic routes, and there is a large amount of overlap with short and medium routes so you’ll see the same salad on both MAN and FRA routes. The exceptions for getting a choice are LBA/MAN where there is no choice (unless you count not having anything as a choice!)
