Club Europe Catering Guide 2017.

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering, introduced on Sunday 26 March 2017 and due to end on Tuesday 11 September 2018, based on 3 zones. A new Club Europe catering product is due to be launch on Wednesday 12 September 2018, and this is based on 4 bands. The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that there was an increase in food offered on some combinations shortly after the start-up, so the more recent photos may be the best place to start. The previous shorthaul catering guide, now locked but which had the previous 4 band system, is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the pre-ordered versions - which are VLML (Lacto-ovo), AVML (Asia) and VGML (Vegan) . There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, LCY+STN. Last update: 833

Note posts before 1-832 are typically the April 2017 menu. 833 and above is from the menu for May 2017.

I'd recommend it ..... until it's enhanced...
My experience is that's it's a cold meal but pretty bountiful.

Had a first experience of the new CE service yesterday on TIA to LGW. Main differences were the inclusion of a starter (smoked salmon), with separate service for main course (thyme roast chicken). And then wine by the glass (Spanish Sauvignon Blanc). Have to say it was all good although the excellent service by the CSM, Colin, probably made more difference than the food itself. We had a personal welcome, update on expected arrival time and very good attention throughout the flight.

Downside (off topic) was the screaming 'baby' in 1D. I say baby as he/she was probably only just under 2. The father's solution was to stand in the aisle. holding her. As I was in 1C, that just brought the screaming closer!

Can't consider this an improvement at all...hopefully I'll soon fly on some long CE route and I hope to experience something better!
Hello AndreaMD and welcome to FlyerTalk. Thanks for taking the plunge and I look forward to seeing you around.

Something to look forward to perhaps on one of your future CE sectors with BA ......
I think I'll pass on the dessert!

Isn't that to cater for passover? Presumably outside of this you'll get a similar size portion to everyone else.

Assuming someone hasn't beaten me to it by then, I have another CE trip next week and I've ordered the Kosher meal again. It'll be a lunchtime service rather than evening, but will be interesting to compare the "Passover Dinner" to the standard lunch.

I dislike all kinds of pedantry

In Italian the noun panino ; plural panini) is a diminutive of pane ("bread") and literally refers to a bread roll. Panino imbottito ("stuffed panino") refers to a sandwich, but the word panino is also often used alone to indicate a sandwich in general.

It's a bit like Forum, Fora, Forums.

Passover will be long gone next week, it's already over! I mentioned the regular short/medium kosher lunch I had in the first week of the new CE catering operation (ie pre-Passover) somewhere upthread; it was a very good cured salmon with some salad.

Indeed you did, I'd forgotten about that! If it does turn out to be the salmon it'd be a good result, especially compared to the singular prawn salad...

Nope, KSML has always been quite substantially bigger than the regular meals even before the recent enhancement. Probably Jewish mothers preparing the trays or something! Hermiolis piles food on, maybe also because their top airline customer must be LY which serves much larger meals than BA in the first place!

The Passover meal was a bit weirder than the regular one before, which I found better. Quantities were comparable. I was going to try AVML next, but having seen the comment, I'll probably stick to KSML for short and medium (more than happy to have the regular meal on long as they all look nice except breakfast).

With this level of praise for the KSML offering, I foresee a big spike in requests being made by those booking CE flights !

Cue more envious glances from fellow travellers as they see their seat neighbour tucking into a substantial KSML - in marked contrast to the already infamous (all-new & improved) one-prawn CE salad.

It's vegetarian sushi! Not a bit of fish involved. As mentioned that spml is the one size fit all from vegetarian to diabetic via low lactose etc. For all I know it may well be the child meal too as tomato-mozzarella was that too as well as all else!
