Club Europe Catering Guide 2017.

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering, introduced on Sunday 26 March 2017 and due to end on Tuesday 11 September 2018, based on 3 zones. A new Club Europe catering product is due to be launch on Wednesday 12 September 2018, and this is based on 4 bands. The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that there was an increase in food offered on some combinations shortly after the start-up, so the more recent photos may be the best place to start. The previous shorthaul catering guide, now locked but which had the previous 4 band system, is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the pre-ordered versions - which are VLML (Lacto-ovo), AVML (Asia) and VGML (Vegan) . There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, LCY+STN. Last update: 833

Note posts before 1-832 are typically the April 2017 menu. 833 and above is from the menu for May 2017.

Menu and the smoked chicken breast from Friday's LHR - ARN (BA 782). Certainly a recognisable improvement in the quality of the food, and the presentation was good too. 9 people in Club - crew had no problem in serving food and drinks efficiently and were very attentive.

For medium routes kosher meal seems nice. Anyone try the Muslim meal? I used to order it "back in the days" and it was always a head turner from GOT.

This is shockingly bad.

I have inserted a wiki, cross referencing the photos against the bands and times. So if you know your destination and time, you should be able to find a photo matching up to your flight.

No Muslim meals photographed yet.

I wonder how much BA is now spending on edible flowers? I can't see them lasting, much like the AA olive.

Had a band 1 breakfast today - veggie omelette or full English. I wasn't feeling too great and so wanted a continental option, but had to settle for the finger croissant and a tiny yoghurt/fruit pot.

My recent VIE to LHR was a choice of salad or panini. This service used to get a hot dinner. Another enhancement just when you thought there couldn't be any more.

BA2630 LGW-ALC
Dep 1145
Arr 1510

Menu card distributed after pushback
(appears to cover a lot of other "long" Euro flights ex LGW judging by the flight numbers covered on the menu card)

Hot towels distributed after take-off
Main course requests taken
Drinks service combined with the initial tray delivery (starter in situ)
Warm bread basket sweep of the cabin
Starter plate cleared in. Wine/water top ups provided at the same time
Main course charger placed by CM via hand held tray
Tea/coffee/wine/water top ups and tray clear in
Further clear in of remaining service items at 15mins to landing call.

2 crew to 36 passengers ratio (9 rows of 2x2 on an ex BMI A320)
2hrs 10mins flying time and the hard working crew were providing a non-stop service in Club throughout the entire flight.

Return from Jersey on Sunday, so very short lunch.

Salmon salad (which was pleasant enough) or the cheese toastie, sorry Croque Monsieur was also offered.

I have a couple of short and medium flights in the next month so if nobody tries before I'll order the Muslim meal on one of them.

Had the Kosher breakfast this morning, more food than I received in CW coming in from HKG. The CSM (I think is correct) confirmed that they are now much better than the usual meal. (He also saud that when he is a passenger he orders the specials. Didn't have space on the tray for everything. Had a few jealous looks.

I wish I'd had that yesterday instead of the utterly underwhelming beef and cheese panini alternative, which was largely devoid of taste, texture and content...
