Club Europe Catering Guide 2017.

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering, introduced on Sunday 26 March 2017 and due to end on Tuesday 11 September 2018, based on 3 zones. A new Club Europe catering product is due to be launch on Wednesday 12 September 2018, and this is based on 4 bands. The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that there was an increase in food offered on some combinations shortly after the start-up, so the more recent photos may be the best place to start. The previous shorthaul catering guide, now locked but which had the previous 4 band system, is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the pre-ordered versions - which are VLML (Lacto-ovo), AVML (Asia) and VGML (Vegan) . There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, LCY+STN. Last update: 833

Note posts before 1-832 are typically the April 2017 menu. 833 and above is from the menu for May 2017.

Am I right in thinking that there is no difference whatever between the short and medium offerings?

The contents looks pretty good, but that grab bag of fruit looks very Tesco, and certainly doesn't scream premium! I presume it's far cheaper to buy these in than having the caters cut up fruit and plate it?

The Long fligjts lists dessert or cheese on the menu, but every trays comes with both

I am not sure which is incorrect and will in time be corrected, the menu or the tray

See images of catering.

Note that I flew on their new A330 long haul business cabin, but short haul meal service was provided.

Notes on the service:

*Menu cards provided.
*Seat A1 was served last. The order was backwards.
*No hot towels, pre packed cold ones instead.
*No champagne, Cava instead - it was not great.
*Food was excellent.
*Coffee served on a separate small tray with chocolate on the side.
*Freshly squeezed orange juice, not the cheap stuff.
*Gin served from full size bottles.
The A330/A340 service LHR-MAD is a great product. ^ Certainly one to choose over BA if the times suit.

What's the official word on the pannini? I'v been served it 4 times now, and on 2 occasions everyone only got half. Is it meant to be full? Next time I'll make a fuss if as yesterday I have a long F flight and an almost equally long connections experience...

BA made a mistake - although I understand why. The "Big City" routes that were Band 3 MAD, LIN,MSP, VIE come to mind should have been made Long for this purpose. From what I have gathered, AC has admitted that this is being watched. Why don't you send him these pictures? It cannot hurt (I'd add that for all of you - posting these here will certainly make lots of noise but not achieve much - sending them to Troy (can't remember his last name) or AC.

That said -pumpkin filled pasta sounds vile as does that nasty little bottle of Cava. You get better on Renfe AVE.

A half panino would definitely be cruel on an MSP flight but with talk of long haul BoB that might even be seen as a treat down the back if BA opens that route!

i agree with you on piling up the feedback. I sent an email to the GGL team to explain that to me the mixture of having my full hot meal replaced by a half panino, losing the convenience of the white door, and not being able to get a spa treatment on two consecutive F flights made the proposition of flying BA F as a connecting pax worse than it was a few months ago. I mentioned that I don't do boycotts and will be back on BA planes soon but attached etix for two forthcoming F trips just booked on other airlines where I would have normally considered BA. They promised to include my comments as part of the monthly feedback report and I'd encourage other dissatisfied connecting GGL's to do the same.

ps: I (unusually) disagree with you on pumpkin ravioli! Well made, they can be an absolutely fabulous Piedmontese classic!

it is 100% meant to be the full panini. You should not be offered half a panini.

yet i too have seen the offer as the half panino on 2/3 flights and many others have had the same experience! I'll see which one they do tomorrow, but if it's indeed meant to be full, something is going quite badly and worryingly wrong in the communication between BA, the caterer, and the crew.

i have my first lunchtime CE domestic flight on Tuesday, so haven't experienced the half a panini fiasco as yet, but I'll see what I'm offered on Tuesday. I've been told categorically that it is the full panini that is to be served. Due to short falls perhaps this is why crew are halving the panini, but that's BA's problem, not ours. I certainly will not be accepting half a panini.

LGW - VCE April 7th, Lunch Service. (Medium route)

I agreed with my wife to go halves.

The salad was described as chicken Caesar, which it clearly wasn't! More like chicken and bulgar wheat, but it was quite satisfying and very tasty. Much better than some of the salads I've seen on this thread.

The 'hot sandwich' was a cheese and ham toastie, served from the trolley. It was also quite tasty and satisfying, but not what I would expect from a business class lunch. I'm sure I could get the same thing on an easy jet flight for far less than Club Europe.

Half of each was enough to keep hunger at bay on this 2 hour flight.

Incidentally, the second bread roll was for my 18 month old son.

Interesting that the panini has become a toastie...the height of luxury!

Interesting that the salad also appears to have grown in size.

Thank you for updating the topic, britbronco22. Much appreciated.

Okay so after a stunning weekend on JER I was apprehensive about what I would be presented with on the return.

Having been highly satisfied with breakfast on the outbound, the prospect of a few bits of prawn and tabbouleh was slightly concerning. I was mightily impressed. Another fantastic BA CE experience. Salmon and Dijon mustard potato salad. Was totally scrummy! Now I can't wait for my TLS next weekend!

Vegetarian breakfast - medium haul

2 options to choose from this morning on a flight to Vienna, vegetarian and english breakfast.

I choose the vegetarian, see below:

The omlette was filled with mushroom. It was fairly delicious. Shame that the fruit plate was enhanced.
