Thanks! Was just coming back to answer my own question. For me it was about 48 hours.

used chat feature--very slow. Was told I was given 15k points in 2020, so no points for 2021. Will think about it. Possibly cancel.
There is only one retention bonus offered every 12 months, essentially one out of every two years (50%). To get around this, some people pay a month early one year, and the very end of the statement month the next year, thereby attaining a retention bonus two of every three years (66⅔%).

Honors!

Does spending from AU's count or it has to be spend from the main account? I chat with AMEX rep, they said AUs spending does not count toward the threshold.

I suggest you ask again, and make it clear spending is toward retention offer.

Called regarding my Platinum cards:

Vanilla Platinum
Open since November 2020. Was offered a $150 statement credit, or $400 or 40K points with $3000 spend.
Charles Schwab
Open since January 2018, last accepted an offer January 2020. Was offered 40K points with $3000 spend. Didn't ask about others.

Decided to hold off on accepting either offer, since I have a few months to decide. Scrolling up this thread it seems like offers have ranged from 40k-60K points with $3k spend recently, so I will check again closer to when the AF posts.

Your early offers must be discounted by you being eligible for retention two years in a row. That's something to keep in mind, if you plan to keep the card for several years.

Vanilla Platinum

Renewal is in November but I have some expenses coming up so chatted this am about any retention offers - of course, got the script about all the great benefits.

Offered $550 statement credit for $4K spend within three months - I accepted it - maybe I could have received a better offer but I am fine with this.

I can confirm that an AU's spend does count.

AMEX business platinum: got $595 credit
AMEX gold personal: 15,000 MR with $2k spend. I asked if that was the best available offer and they said yes. Ended up taking it as I get a $100 corporate statement credit as well so I come out ahead each year already anyway

Was given 20,000 points without any requirements to keep open. I've had the card since September 2019.

Thanks for the info. I have no problem spending 2k on my own. It just weird that they said AU's spending don't count.

The annual fee for my Platinum card just posted ($550). The card was converted from the gold card in 05/2020.
How do you ask for retention offer via chat?
Start the chat session, and directly ask "Is there a retention offer for my card?". Do I need to ask for a retention department first, or any chat rep would be able to help?
Thanks.
