$400 for 3k spend on personal Plat. Not sure if there was a MR offer but accepted it. (Has anyone who got offered cash or MR before asked if the other one was also available?)

Yes, I was offered the same $400 for $3K spend today and asked if there were any other offers available. They offered 40K MR points for the same $3K spend.

Also offered and accepted the $400 for 3k spend today on a personal Platinum. Was first offered 40k MR points. Thanks to trusty flyertalk I knew to ask if a cash alternative was available and it was.

Offered a miserly 10k Hilton Honors points though for the Aspire and thinking of canceling that one now.

Today DP - Schwab Plat, after a couple lines of the typical "but the benefits are great" was offered 40k after 3k spend and took it.

Will try on Delta reserve tomorrow.
Delta reserve today, was offered 15k with 1k spend, pretty weak but took it since I didn't really plan to cancel (definitely make good use of the companion cert). I put almost no spend on the card, I actually only took it out this year to hit the $20/mo dining credit

AmEx has shifted more towards spending-based retention offers. The notable exception is the $150 statement credit on the personal Platinum that's been going around recently, which reminds me of the Chase Sapphire Reserve credit after its annual fee was also raised. The omicron surge could lead to better retention offers with either no or lower spending requirements. They touted their new non-travel benefits (Walmart+, Equinox, and Digital Entertainment credits) when I brought up COVID but I can't imagine they seriously think they're convincing anyone to stay with those options. I decided not to wait to see if I could get a better offer on my Platinum because I'm already keeping track of two spending-based bonuses.
For the Platinum the retention offers were only 11 month apart - I always assumed there needed to be 13 month between offers

Why don’t you downgrade to the no fee card and hope you get an upgrade offer

What do you say to get to the retention offer? Anybody have experience of them just letting you close the card? My annual fee is coming up

Maybe they haven't had the no fee card yet, and downgrading would disqualify them from getting the sign up bonus. Also the upgrade offers to the Aspire seem to have dried up since Covid - I haven't heard of Amex offering them. Either way the retention offers on the Aspire are always pretty pitiful, probably because it can be such an easy card to get value out of.

Marriott Amex (old SPG card) - Chatted and asked for retention bonus and was told none available. Cancelled card. Minimal spend. (Less than 2k annually).

I received a 150k point for $4k spend upgrade offer from no annual fee Hilton Honors to a second Aspire in August 2021. Called in and told retention I was thinking of closing the no annual fee card. Asked if they had any upgrade offers. First CSR didn't have any offers. Called in a week later with the same script. CSR asked me if I had received any mailers from Amex with an upgrade offer code. I told her I was away from home for a month so I didn't know (true), so she assumed I hadn't been targeted. She then proceeded to offer me the aforementioned upgrade offer, which I accepted.

On a related note, my first Green Card renewal fee is about to hit in mid-January and Amex has sent me a targeted 15k MR for $1k spend upgrade offer to the Gold. Per the T&C, I don't think I'm actually eligible for the bonus since it has lifetime language and I currently hold the Gold. Will consider upgrading after using up my 2022 Green Card credits tomorrow.
