Well apparently AA was right showing 6 left and EF was wrong because now it’s 6 on EF which AA was showing since the list opened up. I’m still 6 though but going to lose out on both and unless I get to the gate early enough to ask for them to split it then ya no dice on that front either. No one on the list ever drops off this close to flight right?

Also I noticed on the list 2 ppl same first 3 letters of last name aren’t right next to each other how my companion is with me. Assuming it’s not just a coincidence and they are together how come they are separated? Is that because they have theirs split off?

EF wasn't wrong they were just reporting the data that AA provides. AA zero'd out the whole flight due to the irrops situation at FLL but now that the flight is under airport control they have started to open up space again to accommodate everyone, which both AA and EF are showing. The flight was never truly sold out AA just removed all space for sale.

And if 2 pax are on the same PNR but with different status they will be separated on the airport list, which is most likely the case.

Wait so if you’re a Plat w a Gold on same PNR you go in according to each persons status but If that same Plat took a non status companion that non status companion goes in with the Plats just below them? Also if I had split these off originally where does the non status companion go on the list would they have been still 1 below me?

EF was showing 8 not zero. Irrelevant now but just was feeling like I had a chance w EF showing 8 all day til now switching to 6 and matching what AA showed on the waitlist.

That is correct. If you have different status on the same PNR you have to call beforehand to have the lower status show up with the higher status. If you had split originally your companion should still be just below you on the upgrade list.

When you are looking at EF you need to clarify whether you're looking at the seatmap or the general flight availability J0Y0 etc. Above I was referring to the general flight availability as it was J0Y0.

well things not off to the best start. Got a seat. But they didn’t cater enough meals. FA is on w gate agent and sounds like they got a hold of catering. Heard her say they thought there were 14 not 20 cause 6 upgrades were done last minute.

That’s insane like don’t they see and know there is an upgrade list of 10 and they need the meals ?

FA’s really nice so far as we’re gate agents, so much more pleasant than @ MIA. PBD of anything I wanted not just the usual although I got Prosecco anyways. Just hope they have Woodford for later.

Omg just heard FA say if catering doesn’t bring the missing meals that the 6 upgrades won’t have a meal. They better get this figured out.

Thursday 13 April - PHL - MIA (originally FLL) A321 - no upgrade during window was listed as F0 when flight was to FLL. Several hours before flight it was cancelled and rebooked as a flight to MIA. At this point I was #3 on the UG list for 6 seats. UG cleared several minutes later and F was zeroed out. Was told on board that flight was not catered due to IROPS. Seemed strange since it was essentially the same flight except to MIA instead of FLL. Pre departure waters were passed out and the snack basket was used in lieu of a meal.

Sunday 16 April FLL - PHL A321 F2 at window. No UG. I was #4 on the UG list for F0 at the gate. While on board my exit row seat mate (EXP luggage tag) was UG to F along with someone else. They were #1 and #2 on the list.

Here's an interesting little tidbit - flying DCA-CHS on Thursday afternoon. Eagle CR9 which is quite full. 57 of the 64 seats in coach are already booked and of the 24 seats that are MCE seats, only 4 were unoccupied (meaning 20 MCE eligible passengers (or people silly enough to buy MCE)).

F had 4 seats open. I was the only one upgraded - right at T-100.

So, Im guessing that I was the only EXP on the flight (I was a low threshold EXP), and there are a ton of PPROs and Plats on this flight.

At T-100, EF says J7, I think the seat map might have had 10-12 open F seats.
Seemed like there were two traunches of upgrades processed, at around T-48 and T-24. After the first batch, was about J4, and now J0.

Currently T-12 and I (low LP EXP) am #2 on the list with 1 seat showing available on the app.

Odds of SWU clearing?

EXP waitlisted on JFK-MAD nonstop AA 94 on 4/20, expertflyer and AA seat map both show six empty biz class seats but zero C available, zero J/R/D/I availability. Can't even book biz class online for cash now. Does that mean AA has given up on selling the seats and withheld remaining seats to be released for upgrades, already released to people who haven't chosen seats yet, none of the above?

No, J0 means business class is completely sold out; Seeing 6 empty seats on the seatmap just means some confirmed business class pax haven't selected their seat yet.

AA will never stop selling paid business class to save room for upgrades.

As to your upgrade odds, anytime a flight is J0 days before that is never good. About the only thing you can hope for is a last minute cancelation (certainly possible) and that you're high up on the waitlist.

Today for phl-dfw I'm number 8 on the list out of 44 for 1 seat, 350K LP's.
