You’ll receive one of the cold entrées for both flights as the warm food cutoff is 1,500 miles (e.g., salad, sandwich, mezze plate).

If possible and if it makes logistical sense, you may want to consider going LAX-MIA. Even if it’s not a flagship flight, I believe it will now qualify for this enhanced 2,200+ meal service being introduced on 4/13.

If it was non stop and now has a connection, why not call and get back on a nonstop?

Great service this morning on 2455 from BOS-LAX in F. The FA was on point / set an example for service, we had a fully catered flight (excluding the juices and the 2nd blanket ) and when the Blin ran out, the Charles de Cazanove 2007 was on offer versus the Prosecco.

Very much a 180 from the same flight in February. Now if only LAX FFD was open…

PDB

Post departure snack / drinks

Fruit with champagne. No plastic to be found!

Breakfast

Cheese, which was served two hours before landing 👍🏼 Note the real Champagne glassware

This is just AWFUL. We are flying in F YYZ-DFW-SMF at the beginning of next month with a 12 noon departure from YYZ-DFW flight time 3hrs 35 mins and a connection to SMF departing 5:15 pm and arriving 6:50pm which is 3:40 minutes. Both segments are a bit shy of 1500 miles. So we are stuck with a cold sandwich on both these flights or have to bring our own food onboard ? I checked and pre-order is not available on either of our flights. So flying for about 7 hours and we are expected to welcome with grateful arms a cold sandwich (the "dreaded" sandwich everyone talks about) or buy something tasty and substantial to bring on with us ? Needless to say, no hot food, as we'd have to eat it immediately after takeoff? This is just disgusting and AA needs to do better.

Had this exact meal on JFK-MIA last week with slightly better presentation. It was a pleasant surprise given some of the pics I had seen on this thread of late. Also, more so because it was supposed to be a 9am departure so I was worried it would be sad airline breakfast so I had actually eaten a full breakfast in the Regency Club but we ended up taking off at lunch time so this was a great lunch IMO. FA could not have been better so all around great flight despite delay

Good idea but there isn't any (unless it gets us there at 11pm) and we have to meet folks there that evening. And I'm not going jetblue! Dang thing is it WAS a nice nonstop. ugh

PDB of choice!

Once in the air, hot towels followed by a different than usual and unsalted hot nut mix and drink of choice.

Let me just start by saying that catering out of CUN continues to be FAR superior to catering on domestic flights of a similar length!

Meal choices today were a pasta dish or the sea bass. I went with the sea bass. It was one of the fishier fish dishes I have had on AA in awhile. It has a bit of a tomato sauce garnish and was accompanied by a delicious steamed spinach and orzo pilaf on the plate. Salt helped this dish. A small side salad with balsamic vinaigrette SERVED IN A SMALL BOTTLE was served on the side. Warm wheat or white meals were served from the bread basket and a bit of butter was served on the tray. The highlight of the meal was the flavored chocolate concoction, whatever it was...it was delicious. Drinks kept refilled throughout the flight,. They ran out of Jack Daniels on this late evening departure, so I switched to a screwdriver...it is 9AM somewhere!

AA 0171 JFK-LAX 9 April 2022

No PDB because the GA decided to play musical chairs after boarding commenced resulting in about a dozen seat changes to cram every last passenger on board.

The menu looks like this

Can’t AA get any other chef to curate this abysmal menu? I hear Jamie Oliver is looking for work.

There’s generally nothing premium about the snacks anymore.

The FA observed FEBO (for the first time I can remember in years). I decided to give their Swiss Omelet a whirl because I can’t stand their scrambled eggs and sad herbed tomato anymore.

Not terrible. I don’t know why they insist on putting lime in the fruit medley though.

FEBO was discontinued years ago; September 2014, to be exact. The order in which meal orders are now taken depends on the direction of the flight. On westbound flights, meal orders are taken from aft to forward.

I was aboard flight 382 from LAX to BOS yesterday (4/8) and thought I would share the experience. I usually like to arrive at the airport about two hours ahead of my scheduled flight but due to heavy traffic on the 405, I wasn't dropped off till 2 PM for a 3PM departure. Fortunately, I was able to use Flagship Check-In and was escorted to the front of a rather long Pre-Check line. This is a good example of when Flagship Check-In comes in handy. When checking into the Admirals' Club, I was given a pass for the Flagship Lounge. The agent apologized for Flagship First Dining not being open and had no idea when that would occur. As soon as I entered the Flagship Lounge, there was an agent who offered me a glass of champagne. Throwing caution to the wind, I decided to imbibe.

After a rather short stay in the lounge, I left for gate 45. When I arrived at the gate, boarding was just starting, and I soon deposited myself in seat 1A. At the seat were two types of bedding, the standard pillow and duvet, but also a set containing a bolster pillow and a small throw blanket. There were also noise cancelling headphones, an amenity kit by Shinola, and a Flagship First menu. The flight crew was very attentive and offered to hang coats and other outerwear. One of the FA's came by with a tray of PDB's and I surprised myself and had a second glass of champagne.

About 30 minutes into the flight, the FA began the lunch service. I had preselected the brisket and it was actually very good as were the roasted baby beets that I picked for my starter. All in all, the lunch service was done with a flair that I haven't seen in quite some time.

I passed on dessert but had a cup of coffee that was actually not too bad. Read for about an hour and then took a nap for about an hour and a half. When I woke, the inflight map told me we were just south of Toronto. I was able to grab this photo of the Toronto conurbation.

We arrived in Boston a few minutes ahead of our scheduled 2330 arrival time. The pilot said that this flight usually arrived early but that we lacked the usual tailwinds that night. All things considered; this was a very pleasant flight with an attentive and friendly cabin crew and food that was quite presentable and tasty.

Meal or no meal?

So I’m kinda confused on whether or not I’ll get a meal on this flight, and I really hope I do because I made the dumb decision to pay for an upgrade just so I could try the post Covid meal service for the first time. The app and website show lunch, but the email I received says only refreshments. The flight is definitely over 900 miles and covers the entire dinner window, but it doesn’t depart in it. So, which is correct? The latter I hope.

Nice write & great pics.. You didnt have soup? Was curious how it was if you had it and if it was served hot (last 2 for me werent hot).

I find the A321T FA's are always pretty solid and offer better than service than the 77W to MIA. I dont know why but the 77W crew to MIA is a mix of like legacy crew and newbies. The FA for F for the A321T's must get some sort of special training to be extra good given its an important FF route. Its the closest I find an AA FA gets to a B6 Mint FA.

It is unfortunate the service levels are what they are, but how about a little perspective? There are billions who would welcome that dreaded, cold sandwich with joy, as it is the only meal they may have that day, or for several. You on the other hand, can eat almost anything you may want at the airport before the flight, and during the layover.
