I disagree. The new F dining at JFK etc will be tableside, just like Concorde dining. The BA supper service is a buffet much like the current flagship lounges at dinner time, with a bit more choice but at several airports slightly lower quality imho. F dining definitely will be an improvement although like you I find it a bit odd to keep it for very few routes.

This may just be a terminology thing, but I literally have no idea what "tableside service" means in this context. Usually it means food actually prepared at your table, but I doubt that's what American means.

What the Concorde Room (and the Qantas F lounges) offer is a la carte dining rather than a buffet. However, neither of them describe it as "tableside service" and the only Flagship Dining that exists today is a buffet, so I'm not sure how you arrive at the conclusion that things are going to be any different in the new iteration. If it is actually going to be a la carte, I agree that's a step up but remain baffled about overall strategy.

I was in this lounge a few days ago for the first time since the refit. I don't like the seating at all - they're all plastic seats that you have to peel yourself off after sitting on them for a while. Much prefer fabric seats.

Wifi seems to actually work today, so that's a plus.

Spoke too soon. The lounge is now about 20% full, and the wifi is unbearably slow. Not even 3G speeds. What a mess.

I think the problem with the wi-fi is more than what the agent is reporting.

Unfriendly reception, substandard lounge

I've always found the reception at the JFK Flagship lounge to be remarkably unfriendly. Example today: The receptionists initially wouldn't me access to the lounge because I'm Executive Platinum on American but traveling internationally in business on another Oneworld carrier. They were convinced that because I was Emerald level on AA, I coudn't fly another Oneworld carrier and receive Emerald benefits. It took a grudging call to a supervisor to straighten this out. When I was finally allowed in, it was with a frown and "ugh, okay." Wouldn't you think that the receptions would have a BASIC education in how this alliance is supposed to work? The "new" lounge is much less comfortable than the old one, with few tables to work at; dry, overcooked buffet food; plastic-covered furniture that sticks to you. The receptionists seem much less concerned with serving passengers than with finding the time to sneak into the buffet table themselves for snacks.

Can't say I've noticed it at all and I use the lounge on average every couple of weeks.

The first time I used the lounge in its new iteration the lady was so excited I got to use it! "You'll love it! It's beautiful! Enjoy your stay!"

I agree completely. I have always found the JFK lounge staff to be very good.

The rule granting business class passengers and OW Sapphires access to the FL has not gone into effect yet
Has anyone heard any date for when OW partner J class passengers will get access to the FL?

I remember seeing references to 'April 2017' for when the IFL would be renamed and the access rules would change for OW Sapphires. Not seen anything in the last couple of months though.

Only had 45 minutes between flights at 7:30am, so chose to use the shower facilities instead of eating. The shower rooms are nice. No key to obtain; you just walk into an available shower room and lock the door behind you. Very upscale in appearance. A HUGE improvement.

The main lounge room is modern, airy and stylish. Loved the center wine bar, and it's design actually encourages conversation with fellow travelers as you pour your selection. Sucked down some champagne and was out the door. Hope to return soon.

2 weeks later...any updates on this? I've heard both spring and April tossed around as the transition time. It's the end of April and the middle of spring so wondering what the hold up is

I popped in yesterday and noticed the hot options were available once again. Since there were a coupe AA employees milling around to make sure everything was in order and I decided to strike up a conversation. The hot buffet was added this past Saturday and the menu dining should be up by the end of the month. There were five hot options: Atlantic salmon with broccoli rabe, barley pilaf, chicken fricassee, cauliflower potato whip and oven dried curry tofu. My personal favorite was the chicken. I meant to take more photos but flying in from MXP made me dead tired.
