LAX-IAD = 8.395% chance of upgrade.
EWR-LAX = 17.728% chance of upgrade.

But that's just a guess. For a calculation, you will have to wait for HNL and Upcheck©.

Well, the best way to upgrade an O fare is probably to ask at least 6 different AA people to upgrade you for free. Two telephone agents, two Admirals Club agents, a Ticket Agent, and the Gate Agent. Somebody will usually do it, if you are persistent enough.

Aha! The "I Never Take No For An Answer" school of thought.

And I suppose if for some strange reason it doesn't work, the best course of action would be to post about it here?

Many of our well-informed and distinguished FT members seem to think so.

Not post about it, but rather rant about it and demand compensation. I envision something like "How dare AA not upgrade me for free on my $79.00 transcon. I want free business class tickets to Europe for my family..."

In general, how are upgrades for MIA-LAX and return on the 763 as a Plat? As an ExPlat?

MIA-LAX cleared for me

I'm EXP and all of my 4 rt over the past two weeks cleared, some at the 100 mark the rest at 54 hours and 30 hours (about). Nice. Hope it continues for next few rt.

Whoops, this was all on 763s.

You are correct, of course. Simply posting would not be adequate.

As a PLT, I estimate that I have been upgraded on this route on about one flight in five.

For PLT, save your stickers you get the J cabin for Y anyway. Also, when I was a poor starving PLT and even a peasant GLD I got opup a number of times on this flight.
