I'd pick seats over the aisle so that I don't have to listen to eveything about my mother in law either.
Guess in some cases it doesn't work.

So it looks like the retrofit is progressing with an awfully slow pace...is there a seat supply issue?
Or is this it and AF is not going to retrofit more 772/773s?

Anyways, if I understood correctly, there are no more plans to retrofit remaining 77Ws but all 772s will continue the retrofit process, correct?
I have a flight booked on AF for YYZ-CDG in business class, and the aircraft type is listed as 772 but sadly the seat config is showing as 2-3-2.
I assume this means I will get the NEV4 seats. (please correct me if I'm wrong)
Do all NEV4 seats on 772s have large IFE screens by any chance, or are there also NEV4 seats with those tiny screens?

Well I did read a fair amount (although not all pages), and just wanted to clarify my understanding, but I guess I should have phrased it differently.

AF is not famous for its screen size. NEV4 have tiny screens.BEST has larger screens but rather small compared to some of its competitors.

1. New plane delivered with NEV4 = large screen
2. Retrofitted plane previously equipped with NEV3 = small screen, as they reused the IFE
3. Retrofitted plane previously equipped with NEV2 = large screen, as they changed the IFE.
I am not 100% sure about case 3., but pretty confident it is correct.

The last passenger 772 was delivered 15 years ago (AF on ordered 2 cargo 772 after 2002). NEV4 was introduced in early 2010s, so no new deliveries with NEV4. The 772s with NEV4 are only retrofitted (there are also NEV2 and NEV3).
But I would not say that the recent NEV4 have a large screen, it is quite small. Maybe a bit larger than NEV2 or NEV3, but still small for business class.

The NEV4 with big screen (on 777-300ER) are similar to other airlines (Delta, China Eastern etc.), it just that the screen is further away.

In fact NEV4 can have large or small screens depending on the following scenarios.
1. New plane delivered with NEV4 = large screen
2. Retrofitted plane previously equipped with NEV3 = small screen, as they reused the IFE
3. Retrofitted plane previously equipped with NEV2 = large screen, as they changed the IFE.

The NEV4 large screen is a bit smaller than the BEST screen, but of a very decent size. It is much larger than the NEV2/3 one.

Hopefully I will get a 772 plane that falls under #3, as there are no 772s that fall under #1 per brunos' post.

I thought all 772s at this point are equipped with either BEST or NEV4 seats, but maybe I'm wrong.
Thanks for the clarification!

NEV2 is completely gone now for long already. NEV3 is still around unfortunately, in the 6 first A388 delivered to AF (the others have NEV4).

I have a flight from CDG-IAH (AF636) in the middle of September, and unfortunately the aircraft is no longer in the best configuration. It is now a A332 with NEV4.

Thank you for the info, good to know that most of AF's fleet have at least NEV4 products.

Going by reports here, it seems the new 1-2-1 772 layout for JFK-CDG is good for couples -- did I read correctly that you can remove that stupid white separator thing?
